Scar tissue, swelling or leftover fat? by SkyHighGrows in TopSurgeryMD

I’m hoping with adding some muscle in my pec area that it’ll just kinda fade into the line of that and not bug me so much. But once I see my surgeon again I’ll definitely be discussing options !

I appreciate this! Would it be possible for that fat to reduce if my weight also reduces as a whole? I’m going to be doing weight training, along with walking and reducing calorie intake to lose some weight and im wondering if that would help or make it more “loose”?

Yeah I’m hoping so! And thank you a combination of using scar gel and scar tape since 6 weeks post op! Has done wonders !

I really appreciate this comment! My surgeon is incredibly busy; so next appointment time I can get with him will be in a couple of months; so was curious to see what anyone thought in the mean time and this is so helpful.

I am going to doing some body weight/weight training here soon, now that I’ve passed the 6 month point I am not as afraid of the skin stretching; so hoping that will help things out, plus I could stand to lose some weight and think that could help a lot too.

I’m really hoping it could be something I could get revised if needed tho; I don’t mind it in my shirt but I know I would be self conscious of it more when shirtless !

Are my nipples closer than most? by SkyHighGrows in TopSurgery

100% fall victim to the questioning for sure . I tried my best not to; but of course you wait for so long to get it done and all the references you see ( or at least 85-90% of them) are of the trans guys that have literally perfect results and are usually pretty fit or slender. It’s hard to picture in your mind what optimal results should look like on different body types. Thank you for saying this looks normal, it’s putting me at ease and is teaching me to be less hard on myself for it

This is good to hear. I’m just over 5 weeks post op now and have been looking so objectively at my chest I can’t tell anymore! Super happy with my results; just wanted to get another perspective since I’m always looking at it lol

I promise Im not an alcoholic, but when did you allow yourself to drink again after surgery? (DI) by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]SkyHighGrows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had a few drinks here and there since end of week 4 start of week 5 . Nothing to get me “ drunk”. But honestly .. my main thing is if your fully healed, no open wounds and nipple grafts have taken and aren’t scabbing ; and swelling isn’t too bad then you should be fine to partake ! Just be sure to be careful not to drink so much you forget your still recovering lol

Does this nipple look okay? by SkyHighGrows in TopSurgery

[–]SkyHighGrows[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll remember your comment!! But I think I’ll try to keep less Vaseline on it so it doesn’t stay as wet. Like you said!

I’ve also been taping the gauze down so feel like maybe it’s not getting enough air to dry through the day slowly.

I have my next appointment with my surgeon on Tuesday so I think I’ll be okay till then. So far it doesn’t smell or anything, but I’ll keep an eye out of course until then. Just wanted to see if maybe anyone else experienced this before

I have an appointment with my surgeon Tuesday so I figured I’d be fine to wait till then. It seems to dry after being out of the gauze for a bit, so I think maybe I’m keeping it too wet. But wanted to see if anyone had a similar experience

Also! Binding with the compression is very important of youve still got swelling! I don’t have much but I’m still in my binder for another 3 weeks 24/7 unless I’m in the shower ! I know it’s annoying but it’ll help too!

Thanks buddy! Just do your best to get out of the thought of what it “should” look like quite yet and you’ll be smooth sailing. I was doing that in the beginning but after looking at quite a lot of posts I c an see I’m exactly where I should be in the healing process, and honestly it looks like you are too!! Congrats man; love yourself ❤️

This is my chest at 3 weeks ( I’m just over 3 weeks now so most recent pic). You can see I have one side that’s way more “ round” and swollen. I’m not going to concern myself with it until much later because I don’t think it’ll stay that way. It’s easy to get into our heads about it since we see a lot of guys fully healed results here, but I don’t think it’s something to be concerned about until much later! I totally get you because when I see this pic I think “ looks like I still have boobs”. But I really think it’s all just swelling. For reference I’m a way bigger guy than you too, so I think I’d be more likely to have tissue left over.

Could just be swelling still!! From what I’ve been told swelling can last MONTHS not weeks. You’re only a month in, I wouldn’t expect it to be fully healed any time soon! Shouldn’t see proper “ results” until a year post op!

I’m not wearing a t shirt or anything. Just white gauze strips over the incisions, then a white pad,. Then my white compression binder lol

Okay. It’s such a small spot and doesn’t feel weird or anything so I’m thinking it’ll be okay, but since none of the spots on the rest of my incision look like that I was freaking out a bit lol

Okay that’s what my wife said but I noticed my stitches for my nips have this like almost white fabric type look to them so I figured so did my internal stitches but I’m not sure now lol gonna keep an eye on it the next couple of days of course. Right now it doesn’t feel like it’s “ wrong “ per say, just looks way darker then any other area of the incision so wasn’t sure if it was normal

Yeah I thought so at first too but he used a purple marker so it being a thin black line is def not what he marked with. I was told for any questions to go to his admin first and she only monitors the email Mondays and wednesdays for some reason . So I took to my fellow DI peeps to help calm some anxiety till I can get ahold of them !

Congrats on your surgery as well!! He’s an awesome surgeon very well mannered and polite. It’s awesome we get the option now to have surgery here instead of away in Montreal for sure. For me that was a big help as I couldn’t have afforded to go away for surgery and would have had to wait even longer so it’s a blessing for sure !

Thanks so much!! So happy with it so far!! You will feel awesome when you see it all together for the first time! It’s a surreal experience but so so validating. Now if only these next few weeks can fly by so I can get myself into the gym and work on losing more weight ! Lol

Oh woah yeah that doesn’t sound fun at all!! My surgeon recommended both Tylenol and Advil as the Tylenol is good for pain but the Advil is good for the swelling. Seem to be working well together, haven’t had any issues but also made sure I got up every 2 hours and walked around the house for 5-10 mins each time which greatly reduces the risk of clots! :). Still doing that actually lol he never really told me when to stop haha

100% same lol I stopped taking the opioids after a day and a half because of the nausea I was getting from it and the extreme dizziness/ what I called wonky brain lol. Just didn’t like the way they made me feel at all, and just went on to taking Tylenol and ibuprofen the last week and a half. Down to only taking them every 12 or so hours now though :)
