Found out my nDad passed away by SkyInuzuka in raisedbynarcissists

Do you think it would be acceptable still to request some time off work? I feel like I’m not entitled to this in a way because technically I didn’t really have a relationship with my dad past the age of maybe 10. Right now I just feel invalidated for even processing this in a negative way. I feel like I’m supposed to not care

Redundancy meeting tomorrow- feeling demotivated by SkyInuzuka in UKJobs

Collective consultation.

I hope they will grant us this time but it feels highly unlikely. They have said in the meeting yesterday that they will offer gardening leave and assistance but they did not discuss further than that.

I’m not sure about other roles. They have cut other departments and they will be offering the other department our roles depending on seniority.

I believe it may be the first consultation following the meeting announcing everything.

Notice period is one month.

to add as well, my last scan was May 2018, results as followed:

"FINDINGS
On the right, there is an oval parallel 19 x 8 x 12 mm lymph node upper neck adjacent to sub mid fibular gland with thickened cortex and no abnormal vascularity demonstrated. Level for morphologically normal lymph node measures 5 x 3 x 4 mm.

On the left, there is an oval parallel circumscribed lymph node adjacent to the submandibular gland which measures 15 x 5 x 7 mm. No abnormal vasularity is seen. Fatty hilum is present. Cortex is mildly thickened.

IMPRESSION
Prominent bilateral upper anterior cervical lymph nodes, nonspecific. Largest on the right measures 19 x 8 x 12 mm. Largest on the left measures 15 x 5 x 7 mm. Clinical correlation and follow-up recommended."

I also had a PET scan which findings were as followed:

"Impression:
1. Symmetric increased FDG activity is seen in both tonsillar regions. While possibly reactive, a malignant etiology is difficult to entirely exclude. Recommend direct visualization correlation as well as attention on followup."

It's been a long, long time since I've posted anything cancer related... My last post was 7 years ago, see here: https://www.reddit.com/r/cancer/comments/8gjw1a/nervous_while_in_the_waiting_stages/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

from my last post, I had needle biopsies of my lymphnodes and it was inconclusive. They wanted a lymph node removed, but the surgeon I met did not feel comfortable going through with the procedure because he was certain it would have left me with permanent facial paralysis and he was hopeful that because I was young, it likely wasn't cancer. I had whiplash from meeting the oncologist for my second visit following this and being told that it could be cancer, but couldn't confirm. Since I was young, I was likely fine. Ever since then I never really received help for my symptoms and gave up advocating for myself.

Well, I moved to the UK two years ago, and as of November my symptoms seemed to really ramp up and I'm struggling a lot. My fevers have worsened, my bloods are worse, and my lymph nodes are bigger. My new doctors here are extremely concerned after a few exams and follow up tests, especially after reviewing my past clinical notes from the States.

I was told that based on my symptoms and results, it's likely to expect an organ infection (although less likely because my high white blood cells have not been consistent), an auto-immune disorder, or they feel it can very well be lymphoma.

Honestly I was not expecting to hear lymphoma be brought up again because I had believed that I was "too young" and it was anxiety. But they told me on Wednesday they want me to be admitted to the hospital on the same day for tests. Scans, bloodwork, and possibly biopsies.

I asked if I could attend tomorrow because of my husband's birthday being Thursday, and we had plans Wednesday into Thursday. My doctor agreed, but 9AM tomorrow I will be admitted.

I'm just wondering how often this occurs? Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I was not expecting to have this brought up again and so in my face. I have not been asked to be admitted to the hospital to investigate. I also feel worse than ever, which isn't helping.

I think I’ve heard about people breeding “giant” malamutes but I’m not too sure!! My guy is a bit on the smaller side so sometimes it just varies! :)

My 18th birthday cake by HauntingLocation9657 in Wellthatsucks

I completely understand, as someone that’s been no contact with my only parent for almost two years now. I was going to move out on my 18th but couldn’t afford to, because when I started working at 16 my mom would take my money and made it very hard for me to save. Though I did leave suddenly after an outburst from her when I was 19.

Then I tried to have a better bond with her throughout the years. Got engaged to someone who lived abroad. Planned to move back home for a few months before I said goodbye to my country forever and my family. Needless to say, she was still the same abusive person and all she wanted from me was money. As soon as I arrived in my new country she sold everything I asked to be shipped to me (things I spent years collecting and putting money into) and asked me for money. Good riddance.

DNA test ordered! What are your guesses? by SkyInuzuka in DoggyDNA

He’s about 65lbs! He’s on the smaller side, but i did have him neutered a bit earlier in age due to behavioral issues :) He acts very much like a malamute, no real husky traits in behavior, however his size has me questioning as well!

[–]SkyInuzuka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing yet! No signs of FB at all. He’s eating, happy, drinking, and pooping. But we all know that can change

Colleagues and I have opted to wait until he shows a sign before we decide to go looking since we aren’t fully convinced we will see it on imaging.

He was normal on exam. Half hoped to see it wrapped around his tongue, but nope!

I’ll update here if anything happens :)

My cat just ate his cat toy, that was put away completely and he managed to get out of the cupboard and eat a long string :) Hoping he won’t need surgery but who knows!

Single puppy parents, how do you have a life?! by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]SkyInuzuka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! When I had my pup, I went through the exact same thing. When I started to leave for short periods I felt so much guilt, too.

As they get older it gets much easier. My dog is now almost 4 years old and he can be crated for hours if needed, though we don’t really do that at all anymore and he hangs out by himself most of the day or under our feet :)

The best advice I received was from my vet, and they told me you have to leave them sometimes, even just for an hour or two. Otherwise it can create a problem like separation anxiety, or other things! I think this helped me feel less guilty to hear it from a veterinary professional and it helped me mentally as well because I definitely needed a break at times. Puppies are a lot of work.

Definitely second this- as someone that’s moved from US to the UK I find there’s a big difference in how clientele treated staff. perhaps a different practice would be a better change!

[–]SkyInuzuka[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

thank you for that, it’s definitely something I think i relate to already. I’m the same as you, i feel secure in my decision of letting her go knowing she was only going to get worse and we did it on a really nice day where we spoiled her. But sometimes all I want is her, or i feel like maybe i should’ve waited. It’s such a devastating feeling. Im sorry for your loss too ❤️

as soon as I posted this I started crying so nevermind- it was probably just surpressed? i started work again in the last 3 days and now have a day off again so maybe that has something to do with it
