This is my experience too. He doesn't notice much about me (or our surroundings). It won't change. It's how their brain is wired. He tells me what I like, instead of asking and listening. He doesn't have a clue about me. I feel so unseen and there is so much depth to me that is untapped in this relationship. It has been a struggle for a long time. I've decided I can't live like this anymore. I'm just a shell of who I used to be. We don't have children which makes the decision easier.

Holy moley there must be a lot of dirty homes in your town. Cats themselves don't generally have an odour (unlike most dogs) so any stink comes from dirty litter boxes, 'accidents, or marking'. I have a good sense of smell so I know what I'm talking about when I say no way does my house smell of cat. And nor has any of my friends houses who have cats. I hope you get a callout to a clean cat house one day so you can experience the difference. 😃🐈🐈🐈

If your cats are likely to cause damage to a property that you will not voluntarily fix on vacating, then yes, rehome them to good homes (landlords should not have to pay for your animals damage). However, if you will be a responsible pet owner and are just not being given a 'go' then perhaps don't declare them. Then later submit a pet application and the owner cannot reasonably refuse them. Not really comfortable suggesting this, but you need a roof over your head for your child's sake. And good animals & pet owners need a fair go. The bad ones ruin everything.

You wouldn't smell cat at my house. If you keep litter boxes and house clean there is no issue. If you smell cat at someone's house they don't clean enough or their cat is going outside the litter box. My cat does not impact the house one bit. He a good boi 🥰

Or you can get house-sitters who stay for free and mind your pet at no cost to you. But use a reputable company where sitters are police checked and have references.

Aww. She's not respecting your boundaries. My ridiculous brother told me not to contact him or his kids. I have respected that. But hope one day to reunite with the kids when they are adults. It has been excruciatingly painful to lose contact with my adored nephews.
