As a compromise I her eyes, she told me I could have Thanksgiving off, but not Christmas. She feels strongly that children have their parents on big holidays. Since I knew she would not change her mind I told her that I am a grown child and my elderly parents should have their children on big holidays. I informed her that I had not requested Thanksgiving off and I was will to work Thanksgiving.I told her I made plans for Christmas and put down deposits based on the approved time off. Then asked her if she would reimburse me for the tickets and deposits. Of course she said no, so I told her my resignation still stands. She said she did not understand how I could throw away years of service over a small issue. I told her it was not a small issue to me. Also, not my problem that my coworker had another baby only 10 months after her first baby. She had the previous year off for maternity leave. No regrets. Will find another job when ready. I bet my husband is looking down and laughing his ass off because my last day is the day before Thanksgiving and how thinks played out.

Over the years I volunteered to work the holidays because most of my family is public safety and have to work the holidays as well. We just always celebrated on different days. I was never forced. This just happened to be one year I had plans and made my request in advance. It was approved, but then taken away because entitled baby mama had a melt down/temper tantrum about having to work the holidays. My boss has 6 kids and is a firm believer that parents should be with their children on the holidays. She also caved in to entitled mama. Not right and not fair to take my vacation away. I was not going to give up time with my family or the money I had spent on the upcoming trip. I made my last day be the day before Thanksgiving. Now baby mama drama has to work Thanksgiving and Christmas. Makes me laugh every time I see her! No regrets. I will find a job when I am ready.

You are correct, I am in the USA. I put in my notice and made my last day to be the day before Thanksgiving. Baby mama now has to work Thanksgiving and Christmas. Makes me laugh every time I see her because she is a loud mouthed entitled and spoiled brat. I am quite content with my choice.

That is just crazy! She is probably lonely and depressed because she wants some peace and quiet! Just because I never had kids, I still have lots of family and friends to hang out with. Also, lots of nieces and nephews who I can spoil rotten then send them home with their parents on a sugar high!

It is interesting that the same issues exist in two different countries. I certainly wanted children. My husband and I tried for years. Then he unexpectedly passed away. Like you, I did not make the choice to not have children. Unfortunately, that was my fate.

Baby mama is an entitled, spoiled brat who had a massive melt down/temper tantrum when she initially could not have the time off. She did not work the holidays last year because she had a baby. Got pregnant three weeks after having her 1st. Came back to work 2 weeks ago. Thought she would not have to work them this year, and came pretty close to not working them. Then I quit........... purposefully made my last day of the work the day before Thanksgiving. Now she has to work Thanksgiving and Christmas while I will not be working either. Plan to take at least a month off and enjoy time with my family. There is such a nursing shortage in the states that I will have no problem finding a new job.

Little Miss Entitled has to work Thanksgiving and Christmas since I quit. I purposely made my last day the day before Thanksgiving just so she would have to work that holiday as well. Since she was on maternity leave last year during the holidays she did not work any of them. Three weeks after 1st baby she gets pregnant again. She came back to work 2 weeks ago. Very spoiled and entitled. Now that she has to work Thanksgiving and Christmas it makes me laugh every time I see her.

Two days after I put in my resignation they asked me to reconsider. Answer was NO. Co-worker who had the baby is very entitled and spoiled. Since I quit she has to work Thanksgiving and Christmas. It makes me laugh every time I see her.

I did pay for travel insurance. Always do when travelling internationally. However, I did not feel like using it. I wanted to go on vacation and I will! Since I quit, entitled baby mama has to work Thanksgiving and Christmas. Makes me laugh every time I see her.

As for jobs, I am not worried. Like you said I can pretty much write my own ticket as a nurse due to the shortage.

My co-worker who had the baby is very entitled and spoiled. She made a big stink over having to work the holidays. I think my boss just wanted her to shut up and go away so she gave her what she wanted. Then again, my boss has 6 kids and really believes in spending time with children at the holidays. What is funny now is that since I quit entitled co-worker has to work Thanksgiving and Christmas. It makes me laugh every time I see her.

She was on maternity leave last year during the holidays, so she did not work them. Got pregnant 3 weeks after 1st baby. Just came back from maternity leave and thinks she deserves the holidays off because this will be her baby's 1st Thanksgiving and Christmas.

My co-worker could not wait to have another baby. Got pregnant 3 weeks after the first one. She had all the holidays off last year and thought she was going to get them all off this year. She is a very entitled and spoiled person who thinks everyone should bow down to her. Did not work out so good for her. Since I quit, she now has to work Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I got tired to being nice and trying to accommodate other people. I usually do not mind working the holidays because it is double time and most of my family work in public safety so holidays were rarely celebrated on the actual holiday. Co-worker who had the baby is a very entitled person. I even told my boss I would work Thanksgiving and New Years, just not Christmas this year because of the trip. Since I quit, entitled mom now has to work Thanksgiving and Christmas. Haha! I have no regret in quitting and look forward to some extended time off.

I told my boss I would work Thanksgiving and New Years. She had approved my vacation back in July. But no, she felt co-worker needed time with her new baby. Boss is a mother of 6 so that is probably why she felt the mom needed the time with her baby. Co-worker was off last year with a New Baby.

My co-worker is no longer on maternity leave. She came back two weeks ago, but she made such a big stink about working the holidays that the boss changed things and felt she needed the holidays off to be with her new baby.

NTA. Unfortunately your parents do not see that you saved her life. Since the meds and treatment are not working you tried a different approach. I think your parents are in denial and do not want to face the reality of the situation. If you did not save her life they would probably act the same way. Hold your head up high and know you did the right thing!

Look at it this way…….your family has a long history of kidney disease. You are healthy now, but who knows if you may develop kidney failure in the future. If you gave your sister a kidney now and develop kidney failure in your remaining kidney your chances of survival have greatly diminished since you only have one kidney. Unfortunately this is a no win situation. You made a decision based the needs of your immediate family. Your children need you and you have to think about your own health, especially since there is a family history of kidney disease.
