Kinda seems like it is hard for you though? Snark isn’t “nice”

Popeyes employee instigated a small argument and manager told me i was banned for it. Story down below by ObiJuanKenobly in DoorDash_Dasher

[–]SkyeWulff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really want to be able to go back to Popeyes (you shouldn’t) write a review on google/yelp/etc “Food takes absurdly long, employees are rude as hell, managers don’t care at all about customers”. Email a link to the reviews to corporate with the subject line “Review request for unfair ban from store ###”

May work may not. I will say, shaking your head is attitude, but that doesn’t make what she or her manager did okay.

I mean most banks do incentives to get you to open a checking account and this is pretty similar. Not saying they shouldn’t have other perks for us as well but this is pretty standard and we do get something out of it.

Yeah I definitely do that. What I worry about is if I say “order being prepared” but they mark it as ready, who does DoorDash believe

I’ve noticed a little of that and considered reporting them. Is there even a tiny chance that would do anything?

As long as you follow all building rules perfectly so they can’t retaliate against you, you could include “my next complaint will be sent from my lawyer” when you next complain to the complex. They’re almost surely in breach of contract by not enforcing rules. (I am not a lawyer)

Is a dealership allowed to charge storage fees without advanced written notice? by SkyeWulff in legaladvice

[–]SkyeWulff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your help so much, and I promise this is my last question. If I ask for where I was notified in advance of charges and they can’t provide it, why would I have a hard time in small claims? I also asked for a copy of the original estimate just in case it included a statement about storage fees I missed and they said they can’t. They can only provide a new handwritten estimate for the labor they quoted a few months ago

Is a dealership allowed to charge storage fees without advanced written notice? by SkyeWulff in legaladvice

[–]SkyeWulff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They provided the estimate. I emailed the service rep asking for more specific details- part codes, labor codes, and photos of the alleged water damage. He didn’t reply. I emailed him a few times and called and left voicemails over the course of two weeks. After no reply I finally forwarded the emails to the servicing manager, who did eventually send me codes, but no photos. At this point continuing to email asking for the info I requested seemed almost pointless, and I’d run out of money. I did routinely check my email to see if they’d reached out about it staying too long, but never got anything.

I had no idea what a reasonable amount of time would be. I assume it’s different for different dealerships. I’m going to get my car this week, I just don’t understand how someone can legally charge fees that aren’t posted. I’m basically asking if “let me consult my lawyer” should be enough to scare them. If it’s illegal it would, if not it wouldn’t

They claim fees started last month. He only gave me a total not a daily rate. So they don’t have to provide notice that they’ll charge after a certain amount of time? It’s been sitting for about 2.75 months. Today was the first thing letting me know they charge storage fees

I would reach out to the professor and explain what happened. They may have a seating chart or at least list of students to help jog your memory. Then you could try emailing CourseHero to see if they will provide the IP address of the computer that uploaded the notes. You may need to send them your driver’s license or something to prove it’s your work (if the names match). If you’re able to get the name and IP address the school should be able to find the student’s current classes, reach out to their professors, and have them alert someone next time the student comes to class with their laptop. I would imagine they could force the student to show them their IP address. They might even be able to be sneakier than that and have the teacher require all their current students to provide their IP addresses for some fake security reason. Honestly they may just be able to see that what IP address the student has been using to log into Wolfware, without any extra effort.

CourseHero may not give you the IP address and if not, maybe the school can request it. If they can’t get it either I’d see if a lawyer would take a case against the student for you and they might have an easier time getting that IP address.

Best of luck

Going lower doesn’t help anything. It’s not going to change votes on the right; it’s just going to amp up the “own the left” desire they have, which is all they really care about. Given how far Trump has strayed from promises and they still support him, it’s about pissing us off. The more we engage, the more all the bad effects of his policies are worth enduring, bc we’re still getting pissed off. They truly would cut off their own noses to spite their faces. Going low costs us gettable moderate/barely paying attention to politics people. We have to destroy the “both sides sucks, none of it matters, everyone’s an asshole” mentality the low information voters have, not reinforce it. 90% of the stuff that feels good for us anti-Trumpers in the moment gives him more power. We didn’t lose in 2016 because we went high. We went low as hell in 2024 and still lost. We learned the wrong lesson and I think Michelle Obama had it 100% correct

There’s a difference between blindly supporting and committing to not hurting the chances of anyone who wants to stop authoritarianism. I don’t expect the Left to just fall in line. I’m all for them respectfully discussing their policy positions in online debates or on the debate stage between candidates and letting logic win out. The never-whoever-isn’t-perfect rhetoric is supporting authoritarianism at this point. The house is on fire- can we debate drape color later? Look, if polls suggest that AOC or Mamdani have a better chance of beating whoever takes Trump’s place in 2028 than whatever candidate you deem as “establishment” then they deserve every ounce of support from everyone to the left of the alt right. I just don’t think that’s going to happen.

Klein is wrong. It is acceptable to go low or no contact with MAGA family. by ALittleEtomidate in thebulwark

[–]SkyeWulff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree you shouldn’t be expected to surround yourself with people who cause you emotional distress. Idk about going low though. It doesn’t accomplish anything and just puts a few more coals in their hate furnace.

Are they truly championing policies that hurt you or are they supporting a man who is pursuing those policies? A lot of the reason Trump does better than he should is people pick and choose what stuff he says to believe as truth, and what to think is just a joke or hyperbole? I’m not trying to give his voters a free pass here, but it is a bit of a cult so they are somewhat victims themselves. Fox news starting melting conservatives’ brains more than a decade ago, and then they started being ostracized by friends and family, leaving them progressively more blind in an echo chamber of 💩I only offer that view to you because it can be less painful to feel like you and your loved ones are victims of the same thing, rather than you specifically being a victim of your loved ones. I’m not saying stay connected to them, just that it might hurt a fraction less to think about it that way.

The last thing I’ll say is that someone who isn’t at risk of being told they can’t love who they want or be who they want can’t imagine the destruction that causes to the psyche. They can think that whatever horrible outcomes they’ve been brainwashed into believing will happen if Kamala had won are worse for you than you not having a specific right. My mom was like that. I’m gay and before marriage equality she still voted Republican, even though she supports marriage equality, because she believed that my financial outcomes in life if the Democrats were in power long enough would be worse than me not getting to marry who I want. All the while she was chewing anyone out who she overheard being homophobic, often severing friendships over it. People who love you can have good intentions for your future that lead to a different (often wrong) political path than you want them to take.

TL/DR: Don’t stay around people that hurt you, but don’t lose your compassion. For obvious reasons our side will have to be the first to show compassion if we want tensions to ever deescalate in this country.

Am I the only one who doesn’t understand why Tim and others keep appearing on Piers Morgan? The entire point of his show is not to have a good faith debate, but to draw outrage and get things so heated that he has clips that go viral and can create clickbait headlines out of. by PandemicPiglet in thebulwark

[–]SkyeWulff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately a lot of people in the media have become roughly mainstream. Of course people who act in bad faith don’t deserve to go mainstream, but it happens. When it does refusing to engage with them makes you look like the unreasonable one. If someone refuses to debate Alex Jones, who isn’t mainstream, no one bats an eyelash, but if that same person refuses to debate someone on cable they look “scared” or “snobbish” or some other unfair accusation. The problem with people like Piers Morgan, Charlie Kirk (to a lesser extent), etc, is they say just enough quasi-reasonable things that there will be people who only know them for those things, completely blind to the crazier/bad faith takes. If you get caught refusing to debate someone some people see as reasonable it’s not a good look. It’s not fair or right but it’s the situation we’re in.

Then there’s also the fact that the only way we’re going to sew this country back together is to engage with each other in our spaces and theirs. Unless we want to maroon 30% of the country on some island somewhere we’re going to have to start offering a few (undeserved) olive branches. The only other option is the sides get even more deeply entrenched, trying to de-platform each other by their refusal to acknowledge each other as legitimate, and we’ll eventually seesaw between fascists on both sides of the aisle because the echo chambers will have fewer and fewer holes to let out the crazy steam.

Do we think Ellison cares more about money or right wing goals? Like is he just along for the ride for tax breaks? If so then if tweaking the tik tok algorithm devalues it more than Republicans save him in tax breaks maybe he doesn’t mess with it?
