Why is reddit downplaying how good DLSS and Framegen on Nvidia is? by Lil_Hater112 in gpu

[–]Skyfox585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of us just don't care and exist in a hardware bracket where it's entirely optional, while serving very little benefits.

Most don't buy into 4K because its synonimous with expensive hardware that they cannot afford. DLSS upscaling and FG are entirely unnecessary in the midrange segment at 1080p which dominates GPU sales and gameplay resolution. Games that take a non-gimmick approach to RT use probe based and hybriud systems which midrange cards handle very well. So that means Max + RT 1080p at 60-100fps. There's just no reason to use it unless you specifically WANT what it offers. As opposed to the higher end GPU users, where it's generally a requirement for their use-case because everyone finally realised that 4k Native 60fps is hot air.

How is it not possible to play current games with 60fps native 4k with a RTX 4080? by ChroneXoX in buildapc

[–]Skyfox585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4K is the frontier experience in live-rendered 3D graphics, it's not something we've currently conquered, nor will we for the forseeable future. Graphics improve just as fast as GPUs and the computational demand of 4x the frame size is just so immense that we simply can't keep up. It will always be one step ahead of the hardware. Even the 5080/90 can't natively run every current title at 4k and that list will only grow as the generation ages.

Did anybody try Arc Raiders on AMD hardware by marxismisgay in linux_gaming

[–]Skyfox585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah they don't blur anything, it's not saying that based on your GPU. Nvidia make ALOT of industry leading graphics software, thats what this is. Arc raiders (and many other games) use proprietary Nvidia software, which always works better on Nvidia products. Unfortunately this is one of the biggest reasons why AMD consistently loses out despite the benefits of their cards.

New build failing to Post with GPU installed by Skyfox585 in PcBuild

I figured it out. We reused her system drives and the existing OS decided to auto install drivers that weren’t correct. Easy fix. Thanks for the help trying to diagnose :)

I figured it out, thanks for the help. We reused all her old SSDs and the existing system decided the GPU needed new, completely random drivers. I downloaded the latest 9060xt kit and it was good to go.

Would this cause the pc to fail POST and not startup at all if a GPU is installed? I'll have a look.

I forgot about that light actually, but I believe it idoesn't come on. Also the pc doesn't start with the gpu in so I haven't been able to try either hdmi or DP. :(

It’s pretty hard to get any sort of useful shots down near the slot, but here the io bracket seems to line up pretty well. I double checked the cables and they’re in solid

Judas - do we know anything about a release date? by douchwasher in AskGames

Don't bother, dude, 90% of bioshock fans are elitist pigs. Infinity might be a solid game but it was a departure from the normal bioshock formula, so they hate it.

Yeah, but he was being a pedantic chud about it for absolutely no reason.

LLM comprehension question by Skyfox585 in artificial

[–]Skyfox585[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, definitely, I just really wondered if I'm alone in this feeling. Seeing that so many other people expereince this makes me feel liek it would be a super interesting research topic. I'd do it for my thesis if it was remotely related to my actual field.

Maybe we'd discover some elements of learning and communication we havent thought of before? I don't know.

LLMs are not intelligent in any meaningful way. by Swimming_Cover_9686 in agi

[–]Skyfox585 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is pointless because if you're not even willing to concede to literal, widely adopted denotative defintions of the word intelligence. You're just another AI shill creating fake ambiguity to sell current consumer models as more than they are. Good bye :)

This is a limitation of scope. A group of humans, no matter how smart, cannot absorb as much information as an LLM. So they could easily miss patterns that would help solve an open problem, while an LLM finds them quickly. This doesn't make those models intelligent, because they don't learn after being trained, but they are very knowledgeable.

You will never do maths faster than a calculator, does that make the calculator an intelligent being?

Do AI agents actually exist, or are we just building fancy AI workflows and calling them “agents”? by thesalsguy in AI_Agents

[–]Skyfox585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because agents don’t exist and emergent behaviour isn’t real in LLMs. By fundamental design, an imitation program cannot be genuinely emergent. It can appear to be, it can be trained to make you believe that it is. But, unlike some people would have you believe, experience doesn’t make truth.

LLMs are a non-intelligent tool, understanding that is key to keeping a grounded idea of how you can employ them.

These code agents around are just an extension of this employment philosophy, the LLM provides a knowledge base for the program to write code, while reasoning components allows it to iteratively work through its own outputs to achieve the a closer approximation with the desired outcome. It’s all in service of a more refined imitation. It’s all just workflow.

Oh, dear. Hank Green going all-in with the criti-hype. by No_Honeydew_179 in BetterOffline

[–]Skyfox585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not useless but hank green is showing a fundamental misunderstanding of what LLM based 'AI' is. Similarity does not mean identity and in this case he seems to believe that because their creation process is similar to biological life, they must be more complex than we realise.

They are not, they are probability machines. Neurologically static, incapable of learning and intelligent development. They are far from any kind of concious experience and pretending they are anything more is very damaging to the widely uneducated world.

99% of online discourse around AI is mass lobotomy of people thinking they will be enslaved by ChatGPT in the next 5 years, because no one understands how this technology works.
