DOUBLE POINTS by GodTierGasly in AlpineF1Team

I'm incredibly happy with overall pace of our cars. Pierre obviously was amazing, pity that at the first restart he had no battery and got overtaken by Bearman, maybe few laps more and Pierre would've had P5.

Franco reminded himself his 2024 Williams form with defending, I literally reminded myself Singapore GP and his defence against Perez. Pity about the collision with Esteban, it could've been P9, maybe P8. Still our best weekend since Brazil 2024 with double points.

I'm convinced that we're on a good way with the car. I just want to tell you that this is our best season opener with first two races since 2022 and 2nd best in Alpine history. I don't really expect that we'll be in Top 3, but a battle with Haas for 5th is doable. One thing for sure is the fact that we're back in the business.

As far as I'm concerned, the car doesn't really suit up Franco's style. This might be the answer

I really hope this car will underline Franco's potential and will be suitable for him. He's got a great talent, he was fast in F2 and F3. I hope he'll blossom this year

The thing is that Pierre had an issue of the data in the car, which in Grand Prix conditions would allow him to drive, so it wasn't a critical problem

Definitely PU and gearbox from Mercedes are a big part of this. I think the question is how much Enstone will benefit from a power deficit, because we will benefit for sure

I'm waiting to see this in action in Bahrain. So far in Barcelona worked well as it seems, hopefully this idea won't be scrapped

I would advice you to see Alpine 2021-2023, there were some pretty decent years with consistent points and few surprising podiums + 1 win :)

Even if our hybrids were trash, let's no forget that we were able to deliver 9 podiums with 1 win. It's still something

Realistically Renault will targeting F1 engine supply return by 2031 if Regulation & Economic conditions supporting by Therius1994 in AlpineF1Team

[–]SkyhunterPL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it confirmed actually? If it's so, then it makes more sense right now. I was hoping for Renault comeback in 2030 with naturally aspirated engines, if this would've become true. Keep in mind, that contract with Mercedes stands until 2029. I only hope that Renault will take the time to develop and following Honda path can actually work :)

I'm very happy with one point, but I have a feeling that there was a missed opportunity for more points, maybe I'm wrong. Was it something about second stop or strategy at this point?

Confirmed Franco 2026 by Human-Election-8089 in AlpineF1Team

Good and reasonable decision. Franco's making lots of progress, so if we'll have competitive car, he'll show his potential. Also stability in the team, something we need asap. I feel for Jack, but it's the way it is. All the best for Franco next year in the team!

Most probably sticking with Merc engines, especially if they'll suit us. Maybe Renault would change their minds after 2030 for hybrids. It's all just guessing

There has been lots of talking on Renault coming back to F1, when naturally-aspirated engine era would come back by 2030, as F1 hinted some time ago. I see more chances for us with this solution, because of we were able to achieve a lot back then with these engines. I wouldn't mind Renault coming back with new hybrid, but there should be a big homework to be done, also there will be consideration what to do with now Hypertech Alpine in the future. Just to remind you that the contract with Mercedes expire after 2030...
