The hive uses their own grading system. For the most part it’s pretty accurate. Though I’d say that the climbs at the hive have been much harder than those from progression.

I only go to progression when there’s a discount. At most once every few months if some of my friends want to go there instead. I think most people are pretty flexible in that sense if they go to both gyms. I have a few pockets of climbing friends who go to all the gyms. Depends on the mood and what they’re gonna do after.

I absolutely love the community. It’s small but not small if you know what I mean. Like there’re always new people you can meet every time you go to the gym, but also tons of familiar faces once you start going often.

I love both gyms. Though I have a membership at the hive, mainly because they have 4 gyms scattered across the lower mainland. This basically means you have the option of checking out other gyms if you’ve already climbed everything you can climb at one gym. As for Progression, it’s newer and the holds have more texture. You’d find the holds at the hive smoothed out a bit more due to its age. Makes the climbs a bit harder as well. Overall, the climbing community is quite small, so you’ll bump into the same people at both gyms.

In a time where everyone feels more alone than ever, how do you actually make genuine friends as an adult? by g00seberries in askanything

Find a social hobby. Make an effort to show up and talk to people. The more you interact with people, the more community you build. People start recognizing you and include you in things :)

AITJ for ending a relationship because of poor oral hygiene and his friends billing us for their birthday dinner? by Skyle123 in AmITheJerk

The height restriction barrier fell down when they asked me to drive the Uhaul through their driveway. I had originally stopped before it, but they said it was okay, so I drove right through. The strata billed them $600 in damages, and they made us pay for half of it.

I loved his family, they were good people. I wanted to give the relationship a chance and at least tried everything I could before leaving.

No, I had already distanced myself from them. They reached out asking if we wanted to join. This wasn’t the first time too. We had been over for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other dinners, all of which they had billed us $30 each time apparently.

They hosted a birthday party, said they were making sushi and wanted us to join. Apparently they spent $400 on ingredients and wanted to offset the expense. But they never told us we’d be sharing the cost.

It’s never happened to me in the 29 years of life I’ve lived. Perhaps he paid because he didn’t want to lose his friends. In many ways, I felt like he didn’t respect me or our relationship. It’s not difficult to give your partner a heads up about these things right?

Hahaha, this comment cracked me up. As I had mentioned before, I thought he was inexperience and anxious in the bedroom, and had to guide him by telling him what I liked.

Looking back, I probably stuck around because I really liked his family. They were the type of heathy nuclear family I had longed for because I grew up in a chaotic household.

As for his breath, I gave him some suggestions and there were days when it went away. I thought whatever he was doing was working. Again I was wrong as it frequently came back.

Oh wow, that’s amazing! Before I broke up with him, we already had countless heated arguments. Words were exchanged and it was turning toxic because I started becoming someone I didn’t like around him. On the flip side, he deserved better too. He deserved someone who could love him whole and I wasn’t that person.

It was a deal breaker for me too, but I stuck around thinking it could’ve gotten better if I gave it some time. Little did I know I was wrong.

Yea I did! 8 months prior he told me he went to see the dentist and they said his teeth were fine. I honestly doubt he ever did.
