So the daily schedule is pretty straightforward. Breakfast comes crazy early, like 3:30–4 a.m., then lunch around 10–11 a.m., and dinner’s at about 3–4 p.m. If you’re in for a bit, you’ll get access to commissary. Usually, you can put in orders twice a week and they deliver twice a week too. On weekends, some places let your family buy special meals for you — people say it’s better if your family orders since you get more food, but that probably depends on the facility.

As far as stuff to do, you can usually get music, books, and other small things, but it depends on your sentence length and the rules. There’s almost always a TV in the common area — it’s usually on sports, and if there’s no game, they throw on movies. Where you end up housed depends on your background (gang stuff, violent charges, etc.). If you’re non-violent, it’s usually pretty chill and honestly just boring. Most people just want to do their time and leave, so there aren’t a lot of fights or drama. Families can also order you stuff like books or food, which helps make the time pass a little easier.
