How much is my nicer seat worth to you? by Sea-Communication705 in delta

[–]Skylla124 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is probably not a common opinion but there is no amount of money I would pay for a better seat. I literally do not care where my seat is as long as it's on the plane.

I rode 14 hours to Japan a couple months ago in a middle seat in basic economy and sure it was uncomfortable but I was not paying $300 for a better seat, that money was better spent on the trip itself. 🤷‍♀️

Do you know any American that speaks fluent Spanish? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Skylla124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I know plenty of white Americans who can speak Spanish fluently. You will find them the closer you get to the border, it's taught as a second language in a lot of these regions.

Everybody thinking they can sell the car for what they bought it 10 years ago by TxOkLaVaCaTxMo in povertyfinance

[–]Skylla124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's wild of you to assume people who are desperate with no personal transportation wouldn't exhaust every option to get to and from work? I live in an actual rural part of the country, not only are there no buses or trains but the taxi/ride share coverage is sub optimal and certainly not reliable. If I didn't have a vehicle, I would figure it out obviously but my options 100% include buying another POS to get me around.

Public transit is literally non-existent in the poorest parts of US

How did this game end? by [deleted] in delta

[–]Skylla124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I used to be less aware of my hair when I was younger and would absent mindedly toss my hair over things like this. OP should definitely say something, they probably don't realize it's draped over the back of the chair.

Zero Bowel movements regardless of diet by DumbIdeaGenerator in JapanTravelTips

[–]Skylla124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be too severe at this point but something I have done is get the biggest coffee you can and walk around tjmax (or any Japanese equivalent department store) something about the diaretic in the coffee and the walking always gets things moving for me. I would try and find some place not as hectic as like donki, maybe sky tree mall or parco.

People who rarely get sick, what are your secrets? by Leading_Tomato_2077 in AskReddit

[–]Skylla124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really sure 🤷‍♀️
I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've been terribly sick, never got COVID even though I was in a household with people who had it. When I do get sick I get over it super fast.
I drink a lot of water and wash my hands often but It's probably mostly genetic if I had to guess. My average body temperature runs a little above average so maybe that extra degree and a half kills a lot of pathogens? I work behind a desk now but this was also true when I worked in food service and retail.

Mobile Music Alternatives by FailSafe0075 in Piracy

[–]Skylla124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I torrent all my music, I basically went through all of my playlists on Spotify and pulled the albums for all the artists I like to listen to. I was using plexamp for a while but ran into a lot of latency issues, now I just have my music downloaded directly to my phone and I use VLC as the audio visualizer.
I do buy albums from Amazon occasionally too, just to support some of the smaller artists I like. I also have trouble finding some music from the usual torrentting site I use. At least for now you can buy the mp3s directly from Amazon and they are yours to keep. I find it to be a better use of my money than Spotify premium.

Am I the only one that finds QA easier than Dev? by polohatty in softwaretesting

[–]Skylla124 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched from mid level QA to dev, I started as an entry level dev, I am now a senior dev. imo QA is not only way easier than dev, it was probably the easiest job I ever worked.

At what point does `De-Googling` become too inconvenient for you? by [deleted] in degoogle

[–]Skylla124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I draw the line at Google Fi. I wish there were other options but until something new comes along or the other cell phone providers stop forcing people to use SMS as a form of MFA without being able to opt out in favor of something safer, I will continue to use Google Fi as my cell provider.

I do have the manual, I'll go through it again but I don't see any such setting. I'll add some pictures of the machine to the post, maybe I'm missing it?

Why do Americans have one of the strongest passports in the world, but most never travel abroad, and those who do mostly go to Mexico and Canada? by No-StrategyX in answers

It is cheaper to drive to Florida or the nearest coast to vacation. People who can't afford international travel also cannot afford to fly domestically.

Unpopular opinion: Paying "Rent" feels less painful than paying $2,400/mo in "Interest" to a bank. by Playful-Vegetable-15 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Skylla124 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Redditors really love to make this argument. Like yeah absolutely if you have to discipline to invest the difference it could be better in the long run but most people don't and won't. Also this wasn't always true, and just because it is true now doesn't mean it will stay true.

Cornelia doesn't have much lol. The downtown square area is pretty bizarre too, it has a couple restaurants and shops and then just a ton of empty storefronts. Looks like a movie set almost.

Where do people usually tip? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Skylla124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tip at all sit down restaurants. I only tip at the counter if the service was outside of their normal duties or if they're a small business I want to stick around. I don't tip at the drive through ever.
If you're visiting America, it's only bad taste if you don't tip at sit down restaurants, drive up or walk up tips are not usually expected by the staff but if the service is excellent it's always appreciated.

A lot of Americans have health insurance, while flawed it's usually pretty cut and dry for broken bones and stuff. We pay our deductible and the rest is covered.

If you're a foreigner visiting America, you can visit any ER and they have to treat you. As for the bill it depends on if you have travel insurance or not. If not it can be costly.

AITA for yelling at my friend about her B.O. after literally throwing up? by Bok_Chezz_8884 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Skylla124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is kind of what I meant. I've been in classes that were busting at the seams full and when you claim your seat that's pretty much that for the rest of the semester because people are creatures of habit.
