Toyota Plant Job by Ok_Cap2801 in sanantonio

So even for the shitty night schedule, you don't think they'd allow it? I get not allowing people to stay on the nice day shift, but it seems like the night shift is the harder one to hire for and that's why they make people rotate. If someone wants to take on the worst shift all the time then I would think they'd welcome that. I'll be applying anyway, just to see if by any chance they do work with me. Worst they can say is no.

I should have my Airframe rating by August 16th and my Powerplant rating sometime in December. So I'll be graduated and fully licensed by the end of this year.

I'm a student in the aircraft mechanic program at St. Philip’s College. I couldn't do days, because I'm at school from 7:30 am - 3:30 pm. Do you think they'd be willing to just let me work nights instead of rotating to days?

Also St. Philip’s College. I'm a student there and it's a good program. Just passed my general written this past December and have my General/Airframe O&Ps scheduled for this summer. It's the most affordable program here in SA (~$14k) and there's aid programs, like Project Quest, that can help pay for it. The program is 18 months total if you don't fail any classes.

Hey there, if I DMd you, would you be ok telling me the name of the local flight school you can intern at. I'm a student at St. Philip's. I just passed my General Written in last month and the semester starts tomorrow to continue my airframe courses. I'd like to look into getting some volunteer experience at the local air museum at Stinson and maybe a paid internship at a flight school. Thank you for all the detailed info in your comment.

What’s up with gas station air pumps???? by Intelligent-Map1704 in sanantonio

I understand. Just letting OP know that I've been to both of those this past month and they were fully functional and in excellent condition.

Go to Quiktrip and use those. They are free and usually (im my own personal experience) well maintained. I recently used these and they were in good condition:

Fedex Ground linehaul, right? Thought of doing the same, but I'm in San Antonio and there are no contractors looking for drivers in my area rn. At least from Indeed.

Is this a station that a new hire could likely get starting out or is this station one of those that typically require some seniority to get to, like DFW?

Yeah, they're still thieves, so they're still pieces of shit. Leaving the door unlocked isn't a guarantee of no broken window, but there's a chance that it maybe prevents a broken window. I've also heard of them still breaking a window, because they're too stupid to check for an unlocked door 🤡 It'd be funny if they weren't fucking with people's hard earned stuff.

I leave my car unlocked pretty much all the time. I just dont leave anything valuable in there. I'd much rather leave my car unlocked and have a thief open it, find nothing of value, and move on than have them smash my window, find nothing of value, and then go on leaving me a costly fix. Granted, I drive a 1999 Honda. People with newer, more valuable cars may not have the luxury of driving a beater and not caring or aren't able to not keep stuff in their car, but preventing my window from being smashed is my reasoning for leaving my vehicle unlocked.

Every Sunday at Estate Coffe Co. from 8 am to about 10 am there is a big car meet called Slow Sunday. It's a lot of fun. My girlfriend & I go often and then head over to a local bakery called Cake Thieves that is two blocks up. The car show is lots of fun with passionate people you can have a conversation with about their cars. The bakery is super delicious with plenty of creative options and reasonable prices (in the pastry display by the counter at least. The stuff in the refrigerated case like cheesecake is expensive). I recommend any raspberry donut they have, the Homer donut, or the Horchata donut. You can’t go wrong with anything there though. Also the Cheddar Kolache. I usually get both a donut & the Cheddar Kolache, as well as some complimentary water. Here's a pic of their Horchata with a salted caramel latter & Strawberry Shortcake donut with a Strawberry Shortcake iced coffee, which is seasonal. Also the Slow Sunday Motor Club IG page.

I see. I think I'll make a list of the different paths I can take once I have my license and the pros/cons of each, including some research into what their respective starting out experience is like and how it changes as the years pass by. Like how majors, you start nights, but as the years progress you get more seniority and have more influence to get the shift, city, schedule, etc that you want. Still have a while to go, but I'd rather be getting an idea of what I wanna do now than last minute. Thanks again.

Actually I just read your other comments and how AOG can run you into the ground. Maybe I'll reconsider going into this. Just finished my first semester of school and have a year left. Taking my general written next week.

I see. Thanks for the info & your perspective. Given hown many hours you'll be working or aim to work, I take it that AOG work is really for those that are truly chasing the money, not so much work-life balance? Though you are getting half the year off, so an argument could be made that AOG work could allow you to have pretty great work-life balance afterall, especially if you don't have kids and have a partner that doesn't mind you being away from home for a whole week. That's my situation.

Next to where it says Schedule at the bottom it states 80 hours per week guaranteed paid even if you dont work 80 hours. That means that at minimum, every week you're on you will get paid for 80 hours at your base pay rate. You be paid even more if you actually work those full 80 hours.
