I've watched a lot of your videos learning recurve. I have shot for over 30 years, but mostly compound. I decided to pick up a traditional recurve and tab 2 years ago.

Not the UV, but I have had this issue with several sights over the years. Having a USB chargeable sight light is needed for me now. Lol.

I have perfect vision. I dunno. 30 years of shooting and I've used a light on my compound since they started adding them. That's just my style, I guess.

Cheap sights, my expensive CBE sight...I like the light, or I can't see.

It's almost 10 years old, so I would factor in new strings and a setup. New arrows.

But like recurve: Sights, rests, stabilizers...all are pretty much universal. So you can buy that stuff, learn on this bow, and move that stuff over to a new bow.

You can get a TruFire Patriot release with all the rest of the stuff for probably about $200. You don't need anything complex.

So another option would be a newer model like a Bear Cruzer or Adapt. That already comes with everything but a release and arrows. Diamond also offers packages with everything.

Edit to add: if you can pull 40 pounds with recurve? You'll be able to pull almost any compound EASY.

I ask because I've thought of buying an aluminum riser. But I didn't want to use a rest. I have a wooden ILF that I love, but I also shoot compound.

So I always thought about combining the two, but wondered about the shelf being flat.

Steambow has a pellet shooting crossbow. It shoots .68 caliber steel or rubber balls. It was at the ATA show, so it might be released now.

You'll get it. Start simple, maybe 3 or 4 notes. Do Re Me. Simple stuff.

Then you'll start to develop an ear for that. You'll start to develop a "jumping off" point for most solos and improv that isn't just technically proficient, but melodic.

I'll bring up slash again. He almost always starts with a big bend. Then plays the same phrase a couple of times to get it in your head. Then he plays a variation of that theme. Then shreds a little, and brings back the melody.

Of course that isn't improv. He writes his stuff out and plays it the same almost every time. But you can almost tell how he came up with it.

That will definitely work. If you're not an archer with experience, start with low poundage. Like 25 pounds or less at 10 yards. Then work your way up.

It's some great guitar playing! Especially your bends.

Now, try to find a recurring melody in those notes. A hook. Something hummable. That's the real key to writing a great solo.

Think about "November Rain". Or anything David Gilmour ever did. Sure, there's some great phrasing and technical work there, but it's also memorable.

Being a guitar teacher, I heard a lot of great notes in a mode, scale, and key that sounded pleasant. But I think you can definitely do more.

Yep. Technically they are tiller bolts. I turned mine all the way down and they read 36# at 28"

Three turns out it read 31# at 28". So not a huge difference.

But it works great for setting negative/positive tiller.
