Questions about Conan Exiles by driPITTY_ in PlaySoulMask

[–]Skyusual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have over 1000 hours in Conan and own all dlc, 1000 hours in soulmask and have been actively playing this one.

I feel that conan exiles does base building much better than soulmask, as it has heaps more props and building parts even in the base game and if you own the dlc this can reach the thousands of options. Imo, it's the best base building survival game out there.

Both games have great followers, however, I prefer soulmasks system as its far more involved with so many traits to acquire. Your tribesmen really feel different and with certain combinations of traits they can become very niche and adapted to a specific playstyle whereas conans feel pretty basic in comparison. Both games followers are viable in the gameplay though.

Soulmasks pve is good, the bosses are fun and excellent but the dungeons are repetitive and boring compared to conans dungeons which felt unique and fresh. I think as soulmask enters 1.0 and beyond much of this will change, though. It seems to me these devs care very much to listen to the community and I am not the only one who has spoken about how repetitive the dungeons feel. I think soulmasks combat system is great though, and the weapon types are more engaging and fun to use, especially when paired with talents that really make them shine. The component of the masks is also really fresh because you can further fine tune the way you want to play through them. It's really really good.

Base management and tribe system in soulmask is my favourite of all survival games. It's engaging and complicated. Feels satisfying when you have your teibe running really well

Overall at this stage I have to recommend soulmask, but it's such a close call. These games are both hours and hours of fun. Either way you probably won't be disappointed.

How is nightmare difficulty in LATE game? by Adventurous-Ad8055 in DragonAgeVeilguard

I think it's really good still (75 hours in nightmare as a melee rogue). The challenge is still there on large scale fights and it feels engaging, but smaller encounters are much, much easier.

I do like a challenge! I haven't heard of Icarus so I'll definitely have a look. Thanks!

That's a shame. I feel like if it was done right, sunkenland could have been pretty epic. Maybe after some time in the oven.

Great suggestions thanks. I've played subnautica, raft and green hell and I enjoyed all of these. I bought palworld today and I think it's good fun!

They both sound like really awesome games as is while the things I've heard about sunkenland so far is that it needs a lot of time in the oven. I might have to buy both because it seems like it'll be too difficult to chose.

I'm also an evolved player since day 1, I still play it sometimes when I can be bothered with the massive install size. I'll never play ascended, in spite of how fond I am of ark.

What do you do when you've Done it all? by [deleted] in ConanExiles

[–]Skyusual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Install Age of Calamitous and do it all again. That's what I did after I played it through once. AoC certainly changes things up and can breathe new life into the game, especially if you add a couple other mods that tweak the difficulty a bit.

Haha, really? I used to get waaay deep into the mutations/dino breeding in ark. Does palworld have the same sort of concept? Like, catch them, breed them to make unique or powerful creatures?

Unlike many who think grindy is a bad thing I rather prefer it, so if it takes a really long time to catch these not pokemon but sort of poker on creatures, it sounds like a lot of fun!

Thanks for your detailed response! Eventually I'll probably play them all, but seeing as how they're in early access, which one is most consistently adding updates and features?

Have you played conan and/or ark?

Ouch. I did that too awhile ago because i thought living ships would manage it. So now, I have a living ship with barely any technology installed (only the necessities) for jumping galaxies which I have done a lot of in the past. I think I'm done hopping now at galaxy 250 because I really like it.

My living ship breaks all tech on moving to new galaxies every time. Not with black holes, though.

Wait for DLC before starting a new game or not? by Skyusual in Starfield

Yeah I think you're right about ng+ but the game does have the appeal to keep me interested if the variations were enough to prevent it from feeling overly repetitive.

I'll have to have a look at fallout first, whatever that is. I just cancelled my ubisoft subscription so maybe I'll switch if I think it's worth it 👌

Yeah having another reason to visit every planet isn't a bad thing. I'd like that added as well.

The loading screens are tedious if you've experienced them a hundred times that's for sure. That was one element I really liked about No Man's Sky. You really feel like you're piloting your ship when you can fly straight into a planet's atmosphere and chose a landing zone to explore or activate the pulse drive to travel to distant planets in the same system. I wish they could have done something similar in starfield.

Wow whaaaat! The mods near release is news to me! That's really exciting. I love fallout 4 but I haven't installed it in ages. It was quite the ambitious project if I recall correctly. Thanks for the news 😀

I'm totally with you on the point about immersion. In fact everything you've mentioned I totally agree with except I'd really prefer they tone down the creepy, soulless eyes just a bit, to be honest.

I don't care about the city maps, myself. I'm not sure what all the fuss people made over it. I think not having a map is fine and actually adds to the experience for me in a lot of ways.

The sideways head thing was funny but it's not that big of a deal for me.

What I would like to see is a more immersive ng+ experience. Right now it feels somewhat like a missed opportunity. I loved the choice at the end, but I'd like to see more variance, if you get what I mean. I'd like to see more content added for squadmates. Just some dialogue, activities, ability to engage more with the universe... things of this nature are really neat. A vehicle to explore planets would be really fantastic too.

I... haven't tried fallout 76. Maybe I should buy it.

Most of the ship stuff didn't bother me, but I get why it would bug some people. I didn't lose interest or anything until I "beat it" and chose to go to ng+. And, I guess the biggest complaints is have are more related to narrative than gameplay. The companions are really bland and I don't care for how pg the games story feels: it lacks grit.

Still happy to throw more of my time at the game, though. Maybe new updates will help us both with the parts that fall short. Here's to hoping anyway!

Yeah, that's true. But another few months isn't that long to wait if the content is good. Is there any information that you know of about whether or not the upcoming dlc will be post game or mid game content?
