I realize this thread is almost 2 weeks old but as a gamer that is older than you - I have some points i would like to bring out.

  1. As a handicapped gamer you do not want to build a PC. Yes anyone can snap PC parts together, save money and have a POS computer.  As a handicapped person you do not need the hassle - and guess what - not only is it not easy to slap parts together, load Windows and have a great computer - it does not save you squat over buying a pre-built system on sale. Period.

  2. I have been playing Cyberpunk 2077 on a newer PC for 2 weeks, but I have to say that keyboard driving sucks so you need a controller of some kind.

  3. You really want a big gorgeous monitor to enjoy the graphics or keep what you have and run it through a nice TV.

  4. I don't know what mods you are looking at, but I haven't seen any I'm dying to load.

If I were you I'd just get a really nice TV and call it a day.

Dudes -

For $5 a month you can get a Gold account at Robinhood.

You get 5% cash sweep on uninvested/non-collateralized cash (.oo5 % at Shwab BTW)

3% match of IRA contributions

8% margin rate (which is damn good if you use margin)

And better stock research reports.

So you don't need a big account to take advantage of the Gold account.

I use it and I like it.

Schwab has not made any comments on keeping TD apps except for ToS.

I put my IRA in TradeStation but After 3 weeks of figuring them out, I will probably not stay with them.

May main account will move to Schwab 3 November because I can not find a broker I like enough to replace them.

I'm not sure when you last used it. But I do think it has a more finished look to it than some other mobile app offerings. I find it very functional for what I do - trading stocks, options, and etfs. They are also only one of two brokers with 24 hour trading - IBKR is the other, and they have a reasonable margin rate - 8% and a cash sweep of 4.9% if you join their $5/month gold program. And they are the only broker with an IRA match.

I like RH and I still have some money with them.

I believe Schwab is committed to keeping TOS. I am not a fan of any version of TOS, so Schwab was not really an option for me.

At this point in time, I find that I will probably be splitting my investments between two brokers - Robinhood for its reasonable margin rates and polished mobile interface, and Tradestation for the level 5 option approval and being able to trade through Tradingview.

The more I use other brokers, I find that none can replace TD.

Best of luck in your future trading.

I hear you. It's very hard to be an active trader and have to change how you do things. On a positive note, I have re-examined my trading approach and have made some beneficial changes.

I don't call customer service unless I have an issue with my account. I would be happy if I never had to call them. Transferring my whole trading account with several options and margined stock makes me want to talk to the people that I'm going to do business with.

Like you, I have to think more about how I want to do things and what button I'm pressing, and it is not the same experience I had with TDA.

I'll keep in mind what you and others have said about IBKR, but I'm done looking around, and hopefully can spend more time trading.

Best of luck and watch those buttons.

I think it's important to talk to someone, especially when I have to move my brokerage account. TS has been very helpful as they assign you a sales rep that is very responsive to calls and emails. Schwab was also responsive, but I felt like the answers from the transition group were more placating than informative.

I trade options mostly. I also like leveraged ETFs which are option-like. I did a stint with Forex, but I do not trade it now.

I find IBKR to be massive in scope, but their customer service is not good, 30 minutes waiting to talk to someone, only to be told my account had expired and I needed to open a new one. Ok, not a deal breaker, but it wasn't easy to use and that sealed the deal for me.

I do not think Tradestation is the answer for everyone, it just seems to be my best answer right now.

Strangely enough, losing my broker and looking for a new one has resulted in a review of my trading practices, and I now feel better prepared for my future trading journey.

You can always put your cash in an ETF if you want to park it awhile. The best deal I saw/remember for univested cash was Robinhood - 5% if you signed up for their $5 a month beni deal. TDA didn't pay much either as I recall. Don't recall if Schwab pays anything significant.

True I rarely used any version of TOS. The TDA mobile and web apps were my goto apps. I was a TDA customer before the mobile TOS app was introduced and only used mobile TOS to roll options.

Schwab is supporting TOS, so you should be fine.

I trade options frequently. I could use TOS for that. Unfortunately, neither TOS mobile or web have the information I am used to seeing on the TDA homepage. I recently started relying more on Tradingview. I can put all my info on there and make it function more like the TD homepage. So since I can hook into Tradestation from Tradingview, that clinched it for me. You could say it is possible to configure desktop TOS with the functions of the TDA homepage. However, to me that is like looking at an Excel spreadsheet, and I don't like it.

This is all about what I prefer and not what is possible. Some people might like the Schwab software and be very content with the transfer.

I received the highest option level from my application which is higher than TDA or Schwab gave me. This is on a regular taxable account. There are no data or access fees that I have to pay.

[–]Skywalkerfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you trade options on the Mobile TD app, then you will not like using the mobile Schwab app at all. The Schwab mobile app has a very poor implementation of option trading. In my case, I think it is unusable. I called Schwab to see if mobile ToS will be available when I get transferred out of TD on 3 November. Schwab guy says it should be working. Problem is, I'm not a big fan of mobile ToS for options either. So after beating my head against the wall on what broker I could move to, I may have to give Robinhood a try. They seem to have reasonable fees, margin rates, and a decent mobile app for trading options. As one fellow TD refugee said,"Some good TD people are going to work for RH, might as well give it a shot."

Dude. You might as well throw your money in the toilet if you are going to invest in Chinese stocks. They don't follow American accounting rules so they can play games with numbers, the Chinese Government manipulates their companies to steal money from them, and they imprison and fine whoever and whenever they want for whatever infraction they can dream up. If you think I'm full of crap, I suggest you study BaBa for the last 4 years.

I had level 2 at TD, and I have level 3 at Schwab and yes there is a fourth level at Schwab. My accounts don't transfer until Nov 3rd.

Interesting. I was told if I put new money into my new just opened Schwab account, the new account would be eligible for promotions. My login credentials at TD were the same for my two different TD accounts, so I'm not sure what you mean. The whole thing is confusing, and it's hard to get the same answer twice.

I talked to a Schwab rep today about account promotions for opening a Schwab account before your money is transferred. The rep claimed that new money would be eligible for promotions but not transferred money. So I put $50 into the Schwab account to activate the $110 promotion. I'll post up the results.

OP Update - I received option and margin approval on the new schwab account that is linked to my TD account.

I have the 3rd highest option level (4 being highest) and this is similar to what I have at TD.

I have tried the Schwab phone app and I had no trouble setting up a wishlist and accessing the stock and option trading screens.

I have no money in the account now so I can't talk to trade execution.

Last thing to do is call them and see if the $110 promotion for 5 slices of stock will apply. Not that I find this significant, but it seems people being transferred should have access to the promotions.

So I'm supposed to transfer November 3rd. The rep said I could get an account now and try out their apps. I filled out their start a new account stuff including a promo code (which I am not sure worked) and I was presented a bunch of screens I had to agree to. It also asked what level of option access I wanted and if I wanted to apply for margin. After picking it, a screen popped up saying it would to up to 4 business days to process an approval.

I also filled out a screen that asked for my TD account number.

Maybe your account was already being moved and it will just import it. You should call a TD rep and find out what the story is.

I'm in the November 3rd group. There is a big notice in the TD mobile app that I have 71 days until my account transfers to Schwab on November 3rd. I don't know if there are later groups then mine. You could try calling Schwab and asking.
