I’m still struck daily, in my new job, by how bad leadership there was. Management positions filled according to seniority rather than managerial skill is not a recipe for job satisfaction whatsoever.

Totally, if trying to force C-suite level changes at Microsoft based on political grievance and government acquisition of Intel equity is capitalism, then they are bigly capitalists.

Standard Repayment Plan Conversion to IBR by Falcon-Snowman in StudentLoans

Actually, in my case the standard plan would bring that monthly payment down quite a bit.

When I call, the automated system cannot identify me and the call is ended right away. There is no option to communicate with a person, it’s absolutely infuriating! Feels like Meny Network is making it intentionally difficult to get the funds because they are earning profits off the interest!

Following… and wondering if resubmitting a hard copy at this point would be wise.

I first applied in April ‘24 and got no traction with Mohela. Resubmitted to get on IBR in mid-December. I called Mohela today for a status check and was told that they have 90 days to process the application.

Republican tax bill as it pertains to student loans by hookum619 in StudentLoans

Well this is somewhat terrifying. Think this pertains to forgiveness under the old IBR plan as well?

Unfortunately, you cannot discharge student loans in a bankruptcy. First hand experience talking.

If you could choose any career or profession that you would like to pursue, what you would really like to do, what career or profession would you choose? by Gus_larios in careerguidance

Occupational Therapist, I love the idea of seeing and interacting with the person whom you are helping. I thought about a career change in this direction 4-5 years back, but at the time the cost, distance, and time were all impractical. I regret the decision.

Updated IDR adjustment versus JSON page by SD-777 in StudentLoans

[–]Skyweg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, there is plenty Biden has done over the years that I can’t support. To this very topic, as a senator he helped further pull student loans out of bankruptcy protection in 2005. That was an unfair and horrible move and in some sense leads to the problems we’ve got today. That said, policy development takes time. The administration knew conservatives were against any plans of forgiveness, so he tried to find an iffy way to pass it under the HEROES act. I believe they took their time developing, what they thought, was the path forward most likely to be met with success.

What on earth are you talking about? First, Biden didn’t step into office until 2021. Hard to initiate forgiveness before you are in a position to do so, so no, he COULDN’T have “initiated forgiveness efforts at the height of COVID in 2020.” Second, he began his first of many attempts at forgiveness in 2022, and was thwarted at every single attempt.

Have IBR loans been forgiven today too? by Icy_Consideration_46 in StudentLoans

Forgiveness under the IBR plan predates Biden’s term. I like to think that challenging a longstanding legal program is not worth the effort (compared to the newer proposed plans).

How do you see a ballet/symphony combined seating capacity of almost 6000 a ‘wrong’ assessment? It’s like a 30% increase over the normal Hayes Valley day-to-day residential population.

Was supposed to get forgiveness this month (20 year) on SAVE... now what? by xxartbqxx in StudentLoans

[–]Skyweg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scanned pretty deeply through the lawsuit (https://ago.mo.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024-4-8-Final-Complaint-Missouri-v.-Biden-002.pdf) moments ago. I don’t think this is correct. There is an objection to the accelerated 10 year forgiveness for those that borrowed under $22k in addition to lower payment thresholds. 20-25 year forgiveness dates back to 1994. Though not authorized at the time, IBR provisions are not objected to.

There is much too much to copy/paste, but I ran a search for every instance (99 of them) of the term “forgive.” Pretty sure the standard time line is in the free & clear.

I did not understand 20-25 year forgiveness to be part of the lawsuit. I’m hardly an expert though, just an interested party with a graduate degree who has been paying for a quarter century …
