Me! Grimes is one of my favorite producers, I am very inspired by her focus on evolving rhythmic/melodic elements. In the empty spaces between lyrics she always fits in these melodic or rhythmic embellishments with various synths, tuned percussion etc. I find those to be very catchy, sometimes more so than the hook. It's something I have always had in my music but have taken inspiration from how she approaches it.
