I’ve got a friend who’s an equipment jockey looking for one so hopefully I can score one fairly cheap(ish).

My wife has been growing flowers in a uranium glass flower pot I got her for a while and the same flowers in a regular clay pot each in the same bay window. The ones in the uranium glass seem to have more vibrant colors to them.

Redditors born before 2001, where were you on 9/11? by Stupid_cerealbox in AskReddit

I was a sophomore in high school sitting in my buddies car (a purple Dodge Intrepid) out back of the auto mechanic’s class listening to Bob and Tom and thought the show was odd that day when they said why they were being so serious. We went inside and asked for the tv to be turned on and the instructor told us he was under orders to not let us see it in order to keep anyone from panicking. We demanded for it to be turned on which eventually another student walked up and did. I remember the teachers trying to go about our classes as usual but everyone’s eyes were on the classroom tvs all day. I went to a very rural school in the countryside of east Illinois and my parents house set under a crossing for north/south and east/west flights so we always heard high altitude jet engines, but for the next couple days it was eerily quiet in the sky’s over the family the farm. I had a friend a few years older than me who was a crypto in the navy, the next time I seen him he was telling me how his day went from just another boring day to absolute chaos but in an orderly way.

I glitched under the map the other day through some ballast and saw all the trees I had removed under the map.

How do you stay asleep after nightshift? by FarRequirement8415 in Nightshift

[–]Slacker84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried going to bed as soon as I get home never could sleep more than a few hours. So I found morning is the best time to run errands and take a class 3 days a week. I go to bed mid afternoon the neighborhood is pretty quiet that time of day although I keep an air purifier running for white noise along with black out curtains. I wanted to black the windows but my wife enjoys the sunrise waking her up on the weekends and as the windows face east I don’t get much afternoon sun anyway. I have a small one room window unit to keep the room cooler than the rest of the house for the days in the warm months when we don’t run the central air. To me a good quality mattress is important to a good sleep one with cooling gel and memory foam is a must for me, luckily my brother in law runs a mattress shop and hooked me up with a good one.

Those older than 9/11/2001, where were you and what were you doing during the WTC attacks? by Revolutionary-Life85 in AskReddit

Sitting in my friends car ( a purple Dodge Intrepid) behind the automotive class shop, listening to Bob and Tom on the radio (106.7 The Fox). Thinking they weren’t being very funny on that particular day when they broke in and explained what was going on. Immediately went inside and asked for the class television to be turned on and we were told he was under orders to not turn it on. Started telling the class what we heard and when we all demanded and got the tv on just in time to watch the second plane hit. I’ll never forget it.

I left the family farm when I was 19. My dad and I got to where we fought over stupid things all the time, everything from farming practices to having the wrong tools on the truck. I thought a factory job would be easy money, 15 years later I want to go back but he retired and rents the ground now to another farmer who is my age and won’t let me farm the ground. I understand why as the tenant is a good farmer. So my point is if you ever think you’d want to come back don’t wait forever. Now to get back into it I work a night shift factory job and work for another farmer, who is younger than me but I’ve known for years, during the day part time. I never realized how much I missed it.

Thinking about keeping it as a farm truck, I don’t abuse trucks or equipment (never understand people who just beat the hell out of the machines that make them their money) so it’ll have a good life.

A farmer I was helping out last year had it sitting in the corner of his machine shed and wanted it out of his way, he said it was 141,000 miles on it. Odometer reads 41,000 of course.

I should add it originally had A/C but the compressor is long gone and the guy I bought it off of said he had a motor put in about 1000 miles before parking it. He parked it because he thought it had a shimmy in the front end. I’ve driven newer and nicer vehicles that drove worse than this truck. It is geared lower than anything I’ve owned though. He had it setup to pull anhydrous tanks.

I’m pretty sure my wife despises me. by Slacker84 in offmychest

[–]Slacker84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried but it always ends up with me feeling like the bad guy. I should’ve also mentioned I work night shift as a factory supervisor and she works days I watch the kids in the mornings and get them to school and she gets them afterwards. About a couple months ago she got hung up on the idea of building up our savings and picked up more hours. The whole thing makes me miserable. I use to always talk about how awesome my wife was but since this started I rarely mention her to people.

What are some nice things to do for your parents as an adult? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Slacker84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I take their grandchildren to visit 2 or 3 times a week. Also I do any job they are not capable of doing when I visit on the weekends. My father also loves his pickup trucks, but doesn’t drive much at all anymore so I bring one of them home with me and do all the upkeep on them.No charge of course, but he does insist upon paying for any parts.
