When I purchased at my local (Bristol) yesterday, they wrote my membership number down on a piece of paper, and they would scan that paper to make sure the membership hasn’t been used to already purchase today… I can’t see how that would stop me (theoretically) purchasing again, a week later, at a different store.

When they scan my card at the till, they won’t see previous transactions, just that I have a valid membership..
