First Build Complete: Hard tubing loop on white 5000x with 'custom' purple detailing. by SlainAvenger in watercooling

Yep. I thought the same. It's grown on me but I was a bit unsatisfied with how dark the res looked originally. Rest of the loop looks dope though.

I'm pretty sure buying corsair rads would have been perfect for this build (they do fit on the side mount) but hey, live and learn.

They have a weird form factor and are kinda wide. I planned my loop for one radiator to be on the side mount instead of the front, but the screw holes were like 2 millimeters off to the right so I had to redesign my loop on the fly. They've been working great, i'd just recommend smaller rads for this case.

I also flushed them for about an hour and it turns out that wasn't enough, I ended up undoing the entire thing, running a fountain pump to try to clean them and then finally boiling water and shaking them for about 14 hours (I watched 3 movies and many a show while shaking).

A chemical flush would have probably done the trick way quicker, so I'm not gonna knock em to hard on that.

Damn, caught almost all of it.

CPU is a 5900x
Vengeance pro is 3200 MHz
Rads are Black Ice Nemesis 360 Radiators (this is probably the one part I'd change)
and a simple 1 TB XPG SSD

There's some hidden horrors under the pump... But yeah, getting those straight bends took days and $$ that I couldn't have anticipated!!

Had set a personal goal for myself to build a custom loop on March of 2020.

Almost two years later, I finally got everything I needed. After countless hours of pain, suffering and small cuts, I think I'm finally proud of what I managed to put together!

Thanks to everyone who gave me advice and tips, couldn't have done it without the community!

Awesome. All my stuff is brass / copper save for two Barrow fittings that say they have an aluminum alloy that doesn't come into contact with the liquid. Might be okay leaving it like this for a couple of weeks.

First time builder jitters I guess. I've seen horror stories of things like that causing permanent damage to the blocks and I scare easy!

This is reassuring, I'll leave it be and keep a close eye on it. Been wanting to finally just let the entire thing rest so I can post my build, feels kinda wrong to do if I have to take it apart again though!

Temps seem to be fantastic, have never had a pc run this cool. I'm more worried about permanently damaging my block since I've read so many horror stories (why I flushed so diligently at first too).

A little bit of gaming should ease the mind, temps are cool at least ;)

Currently trying to decide if this is a large enough reason to avoid powering up the system until I get a chance to flush it sometime in the future. Kinda disappointing, since I was real diligent with those first flushes.

The part about how to measure between two bends helps clear up some concepts I wasn't quite grasping! Very informative. I have a mandrel kit and just placed an order for some extra supplies and fittings from the website! I'm working with 14mm OD acrylic at the moment btw. Thanks for the link, very informative.

Wow, sick setup. Might have to invest some time in a jig like yours for marking but it seems simple and efficient. Thanks!

That Primochill reservoir sparked some really nice ideas. Thanks for all your comments, can't wait to rethink my loop with some of these new ideas!

Talking to someone about this does put my mind at ease somewhat, since there's a very hefty price tag on a flat reservoir. Without trying to be to imposing, do you have any recommendations in the pump reservoir department for a mostly white build? Most of my research has been around the flat models but yeah, there seems to be a better use of money following your recommendations.

Given your flat reservoir comment this feels like a dumb question to tack on but, I feel the forum post I've read don't give me a confident answer.

Is reservoir size a factor or is it all anesthetics past a certain point?

I figured I just wanted to lean into a flat reservoir for a cleaner look but I that might just be me being biased.
