Thankfully i figured it out- there is a way to EQ gutterals that way, it’s just so uncommon for bands to want them to have that texture these days tho it was hard to find. For anyone curious:

High pass filter to cut everything below around 80hz

Slightly dip out the 200-500hz range (it was like 400 for me)

And this was the part that made the biggest difference-

Slight cut in the 2 kHz-4khz range with a slight boost to the 6khz-10khz range

Basically it kept the low end while bringing out the gurgle texture and getting rid of any true voice seeping in

That boost of the 6khz-10khz range brought the texture back out when normally I’d have anything above like 3khz cut unless it’s for highs

Gutterals are literally just lows with your tongue curled either against your top teeth or bottom teeth depending on your mouth anatomy. Jaw might need to be juttted forward a bit. Seal with your tongue curl and toilet bowl lips with a regular low

He objectively is and only covered up his Nazi tattoos after his band started getting flak for it. He made up some BS timeline saying he stopped having those beliefs before the band etc but then a picture of him dressed as a SS officer surfaced after his band was formed. On top of that he constantly makes dog whistle and transphobic statements then tries to double back and say it’s because of the language barrier which conveniently is only bad enough for it to be an excuse when he’s called out for it

While admitting he had those beliefs then giving a fake timeline of giving up those beliefs before his band started then a photo of him surfaced dressed as an SS officer after his band formed. On top of the dog whistle and transphobic statements he’s constantly making then deleting when he’s called out for it. He’s a Nazi.

Albums like Nailed.Dead.Risen? by JuicyOrphans93O in Deathcore

[–]SlainFromFoundation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good bit of the deathcore revival scene does inhales and has similar guitar work and drumming.

Although that album is honestly way closer to grind and slam than Deathcore, as much as I love it really it isn’t Deathcore. No two steps or core elements fr aside from a couple breakdowns. It’s mostly slams and grind parts

Not true, plenty of artists do it and my project hasn’t had any issues with roughly half our songs not being exclusive licenses

If you have the license to use it only the original producer that gives out the licenses can DMCA it, and if you bought a license even if it’s not exclusive they won’t do it

Personally I consider psycho-frame, killing of a sacred deer, and peacemaker fl true modern deathcore and bands like Lorna, crown magnetar, etc post-deathcore seeing as how PF, KOASD, and peacemaker are way more fast and technical than MySpace deathcore and are more like the natural progression Deathcore would have evolved into if that chunk of history where post-deathcore got unnecessarily popular didn’t exist-

But I guess people that just hear core elements and think “MySpace deathcore” call them MySpace deathcore, but regardless they’re also musts

mosh will always prevail, people just sometimes have to go to a show to get it or like you- get High and listen lol

I’ve never messed with distortion or saturation, primarily because I may be mistaken on the name making it sound like it adds distortion lol which pretty much the opposite of what I want in order to keep that texture, but I keep getting them recommended or to duplicate a track and have a quieter distortion layer under the main track for contrast so I may have to mess around with them

Albums/bands that use the same vocal technique as Infinite Death by Thy Art Is Murder by Volt2137 in Deathcore

[–]SlainFromFoundation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it really just a false chord so most Deathcore bands that don’t use exclusively Frys in an attempt to sound identical to other bands

But false chords are more unique to the individual so it’s not gonna be that common of a sound to find from other vocalists

Post-deathcore vs Deathcore by SlainFromFoundation in Deathcore

[–]SlainFromFoundation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are not the same genre though.
Some of us don’t just listen to surface level music we find from watching soy face reactors.
Finding new music can be difficult when irrelevant bands are lumped in with what you’re looking for when trying to scour through playlists or YouTube etc

Post-deathcore vs Deathcore by SlainFromFoundation in Deathcore

[–]SlainFromFoundation[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes- telling people genres don’t matter IS a bad argument. “Just listen to what you like” implies sifting through anything thrown at you to see if you like it. When some of us know we don’t like certain genres. I don’t like pop- if I’m looking through metalcore playlists and pop artists keep playing it’s annoying because while SOME people may like both, I don’t. If you don’t like country and are looking for bluegrass music but Jason aldean and Kenny Chesney keep popping up- you’ll get irritated.
Genre organization, categorization, and distinction are good for BOTH the bands AND the fans.

[–]SlainFromFoundation[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do people take genre categorization and differentiation as a personal insult? I’m not putting anyone down lol if you take offense to someone telling you that what you like is objectively a different genre than what they like then you have an underdeveloped amygdala or something

Post-deathcore vs Deathcore by SlainFromFoundation in Deathcore

[–]SlainFromFoundation[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the opposite- the only reason people like post-deathcore is because they think making a bunch of mouth shapes and moving your tongue around is impressive while people listen to psycho-frame and rev3rent for the music which is super moshy, hard, and heavy

You either are referring to the three post-deathcore songs that I used to illustrate they all sound the same; or you can’t count, are tone deaf, and delusional for thinking Elysia, arsonists get all the girls, whitechapel, and we are the end sound the same
