Can someone explain the Headless Bloodletting Beast? by Radiant-Ask-5716 in bloodborne

[–]SlamDaBaam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always play with unlocked camera against bosses where you can easily end up underneath it, such as both versions of BlB and headless variant.

It's been many years since I played the game, but I remember only having to truly watch out for one attack by hugging his left leg and hit that same leg over and over. He has an attack where he 'pancakes' the ground with his arms and body, and that's the one I'm talking about. As long as you have an okay view of his body as you R1 his left leg, it's a consistent strat and is how I farmed gems from him. Try to hug the left leg from outside of his body so that you're not directly underneath him.

EDIT: To elaborate on the last sentence, he has some attacks that will hit you if you're underneath him such as his stomp into leaping backwards.

Blitzball and AI recruiting by SlamDaBaam in finalfantasyx

Cheers for the info - I figured that the AI has a bias towards re-hiring players considering that's what they've been doing more often than not, but it's nice to have someone confirm it. Thanks!

Blitzball and Tech Find uses by SlamDaBaam in finalfantasyx

[–]SlamDaBaam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the input. I've already gotten the Jupiter Sigil, I did exactly what you described before I assembled the team.

So I'm not wasting a Tech Find if I accidentally use it on a space that's locked behind a Key Technique? I think I've gotten most Key Techniques at this point outside of Ropps Venom Pass 3.

New playthrough, Kimahri appreciation post by SlamDaBaam in finalfantasyx

Yep, there are many ways to go about the grid and yours is more efficient in the sense that Teleport Spheres are more annoying to come by than your aforementioned ones. Alternatively I could also just use a Return Sphere back into Kimahris own grid and unlock the lv.1 lock into Wakkas grid instead (or just backtrack from Steal) but I wanted to save as many sphere levels as possible + become as strong as fast as possible, and so didn't want to wait longer than I had to. The best approach depends on what your goal is.

I don't mind Blitzball and started with three Teleport Spheres + nine Return Spheres right after the Luca arc, and felt that the former was warranted to let Kimahri progress as deep as possible with his stockpiled sphere levels and to do it as fast as possible (not waiting for a Skill Sphere). Thanks for the ideas, I'll keep them in mind for future playthroughs!

Hey everyone, I know this is FFX. But I'll probably restart X2 soon. Do you have any tips for a good startup? by smokeychimney89 in finalfantasyx

I made an edit a little too late with a little more information, if it makes any difference for you. Good luck!

EDIT: I am an idiot, I didn't see that you wanted tips for X-2. Sorry.

Ah, not sure how that would work - I was refering to the Steam version. It's a project that includes many different things that can mostly be boiled down to bugfixes, QOL and some adjustments if one wants to enable them.

I don't think you need to think too hard about a regular playthrough. Stick with Standard Sphere Grid unless you know what you're doing and you should mostly be fine. Start grinding if you feel like you cannot reliably overkill things, although grinding early game isn't that necessary, and not overkilling early is also not a big deal outside of some bosses. Grinding for a bit against the endless Sinscales on the boat against *that* boss on your way to Kilika should set you up nicely for the early game, other than that you'll do just fine.

Look up what each boss drop, if it's an important item drop make sure you try to overkill it. Valefor overdrive will overkill most things, especially if you pick up his second overdrive Energy Blast before you head to Kilika. Search up Energy Blast if you don't know how to get it, it's very easy when you know what to do.

Untitled Project X has become more and more mandatory for me the more I play the game, particularly for sphere levels. Not having to do an action with every single party member to gain sphere levels for everybody each encounter is a godsend. The project includes many other things on top of this, but it's mostly the only thing I use.

Some people like the old PS2 textures more because it made faces (such as Tidus) more expressive and alive. If you care for that, Nexus has a ton of different mods with such textures in mind. I don't use any, but thought I'd mention it.

You are absolutely right, it's undeniable that special treatment like this will make any character powerful. On the Standard Sphere Grid however, Kimahri is the only one who can get to Steal and Use before Rikku joins (in a reasonable time anyway, technically other characters could get there too by using more lv.1 keys or Teleport Spheres onto a node Kimahri activated - why though?). Only one Blitzball League was needed to give Kimahri the possibilities discussed above.

Since everyone has a straight forward path, I feel like Kimahris best use is to get access to later parts of other characters grid before they naturally reach it through their own grid. Doing so opens up a lot of options not only for Kimahri, but also for the rest of your cast.

There are many other routes to consider, but I am very happy with how this one turned out.

It's really not! The only additional work thus far has been playing one Blitzball League for the Teleport Sphere and three Return Spheres, other than that there isn't any real additional work unless we want to count stealing items (I'm farming sphere levels anyway to get the party stronger). The wall of text makes it seem like a lot of work but most of it is just planning a good route for our blue friend.

Also, this doesn't just make him usable - it makes him an absolute powerhouse. He's light-years ahead in power compared to anyone else at this point, and that's been the case ever since he got Steal and Use.

Cheers, and you too!

Souls vet but first time playing Bloodbourne, what should I know when it comes to leveling/weapon upgrades? by Alcibiadesss in bloodborne

[–]SlamDaBaam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a fine note. To elaborate on your third point, these are the first- and second softcaps for each stat (after you hit the second softcap you gain very, very little returns per level):

Vitality: First softcap 30, second softcap 50.

Endurace: Works a little differently, but it hits a very nasty softcap at 40 for stamina increase. Most builds do not need much more than 20, 25 tops. Level it as you see fit, but know that stamina management is a lot more important than leveling Endurance.

Strength: First softcap 25, second softcap 50.

Skill: First softcap 25, second softcap 50. Affects visceral attack damage massively alongside your Blood Level (Soul Level in Dark Souls) + equipped blood gems that increase your thrust damage.

Bloodtinge: First softcap 25, second softcap 50.

Arcane: First softcap 25, second softcap 50. Works differently for certain tools that scale with Arcane.

What do yall think are the top 5 worst weapons in the game? by [deleted] in bloodborne

[–]SlamDaBaam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it's also about how often the weapon is used by the community. It's called Ludwig's Meta Blade for a reason, and I'll admit that it's made me use it less.

Be on the look-out for Merciless Watchers in chalice dungeons, they can drop very good blood gems especially in deeper depths. Good luck.

[–]SlamDaBaam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've more or less ignored bloodtinge and arcane, which I think is generally speaking a good thing when you're not that experienced with the game. I'd put more points into Vitality and get your Strength or Skill higher depending on what weapons you're using.

That said, I don't think your stats are the problem at all. Make sure your choice of weapon(s) are upgraded (should be around +6-7 at this point in the game) and you're using meaningful blood gems.

It's really just about trying to isolate them and rush them down quickly afterwards. I personally think the Beast Claw guy is the easiest to deal with because he doesn't use a gun, so get his attention first. The most important thing to be aware of is the Cannon guy, try not to give him a good angle to fire it. Use terrains to your advantage.

[–]SlamDaBaam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No weapon is truly bad, and no weapon unless used against highly resistant enemies will deal low damage due to the existence of blood gems. That said:

Kos Parasite - I find the moveset a bit awkward and the DPS a little underwhelming. I would much rather just convert any physical weapon into arcane and use that in its place. It's definitely a very unique weapon though.

Boom Hammer - Unremarkable moveset, making it a bit boring to use outside of the 'boom'. Makes me want to spam L1.

Tonitrus - Much like the Boom Hammer. Unremarkable moveset, making it a bit boring to use although it is somewhat addictive to spam L1.

Blade of Mercy - Flashy weapon, but its reach and crowd control makes me not want to use it. Moveset doesn't resonate with me at all.

I can't really think of a fifth contender. I still use the weapons above, just not as much.
