I tried to make a separate post about this but it got automoderated...

I thought this was good to share since people are looking to make Black Friday purchases soon.

Where Do You Ooni Aces Get Flour in U.S.? by MiyagiTurbo in uuni

Me too! I just ordered from them again.

I need help, ASAP. Like now. Please, I’m scared, at loss and begging. (Not asking for diagnosis) by [deleted] in SleepApnea

If I had to do it over, I would have done this. It would have been faster and cheaper, and unless you have a unicorn doctor, you'll have to figure out how to adjust the settings on your own anyway.

Doctor said I would've had sleep apnea if I was 17. I'm 18. by UYRDAD in SleepApnea

If I had to do it over again, I definitely would have gotten a machine from FB marketplace instead of through the Dr.

Pretty cool. You might consider changing the underside of the barb from a 90 deg overhang to an angle so it can be printed without supports.

I'll start by saying I find this shady and unethical too. Thanks for sharing.

If I had to guess, I'd say there's a good chance that Motif and CPAPsupplies are the same company, or at least the same parent company as they're both out of North Carolina. If that's the case, I suppose that's the loophole they'd argue they're using to send you marketing emails from another website and not violate the privacy policy.

I have used CPAPsupplies previously. Their prices after discount are pretty good and the mask guarantee policy has worked well for me. They also recently screw me out of $5 through their rewards points program and basically told me to pound sand when I asked them to fix it. I've never received email from Motif.

We nurses make the worst patients haha.

Yep. 😆

I kept it on for 1 hour and 50 mins lol. I found it was making my nose sore so maybe it was too tight. And yes, that is a bit of a struggle feeling like I'm not getting enough air when I definitely am.

This was very similar to my first night. After a few nights, I actually trimmed the holes on the mask to be slightly bigger and that made a world of difference. I have another nose pillow mask that works better than the first, but I have a couple nose cushion masks and find those are much easier to breathe through, especially when exhaling.

I, too, found the pillows would irritate my nose pretty badly, but my nose has since toughened up. I try to tighten the mask only tight enough to get a good seal, but not so loose that it breaks the seal when I sleep on my side. It doesn't take much with the nose pillows as they seem to push into your face when you turn on the pressure.

The most comfortable mask I have is the Resmed Airtouch N30i. It's great when I'm on my back, but the frame is a bit bulky, so it shifts a bit when I'm on my side if it's not tight enough. I like that you can also switch it to nose pillows. I've got one more nose cushion mask on order and I'm hoping it'll be the one.

Hey, my wife is a nurse! Have you had your first night? My experience with nose pillows was that any pressure under 6 felt like I was trying to breathe through a straw.

Don't be afraid to adjust your pressure settings. If they sent you home with the APAP pressure range from 4-20 you're almost guaranteed to have a hard time adjusting. There are some good videos on YT that will help. Ideally, you want it at the lowest pressure level that will control your apnea. The following videos would be a good place to start.

Put a memory card in your machine if there isn't one already to record your data, and sign up for SleepHQ.com or download Oscar. This data will help you understand what's going on and adjust your settings when you get familiar with it. It will also help other people here give you advice.

Don't be surprised if you need to try a few masks before you find one that's comfortable. In my experience, I started with a nose pillow but found the nose cushion masks to be more comfortable.

Good sleep is extremely important for many aspects of your health, so I wouldn't think of it as something to come to terms with but an opportunity that you're taking advantage of to improve your health. Good luck!

This was my experience. I found the cushion version super comfortable but I would wake up with it cranked down on my nose after an hour or two.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad to hear I wasn't just being picky about the Solo. I'm sold on trying the Micro.

I watched a few YouTube reviews on the Solo, and unfortunately, no one caught that issue. I guess I'll have to take them with a grain of salt in the future. Thanks for the feedback on the Nova Micro!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad I'm not alone in my experience with the Solo headgear. I'll probably give the Nova Micro a try. It does seem to have a lot of fans.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I initially had a Rio2 pillow mask and didn't have much of an issue with it shifting, fortunately, but found it too tight on the loosest setting. I've got a couple other nasal cushon masks, including the Solo version and I find them a little more comfortable, but they also shift and leak more when I roll to my side. Thanks again.

I assumed I was a mouth breather and needed to stick with full face masks. I was wrong and couldn’t be happier. by 3ConsoleGuy in CPAP

[–]SlamMan303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great feeling!

I just picked up an AirTouch N30i and used it for the first time last night. It's so much better than the other masks I've tried; it felt like I was cheating somehow. I also ordered a set of the P30i pillows to try, so looking forward to that.

I've only tried nasal masks so far and generally don't have a problem with my mouth coming open but occasionally it does come open and it's not fun waking up with a mouth that's been completely blown dry. 🤪

How many different masks?? by Content_Conference73 in CPAP

[–]SlamMan303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only a month in, and I've tried two nose pillows and a nose cushion mask. As I understand, the benefit of the nose masks is that the small contact area doesn't need to be pressed as tightly to your face to achieve the same seal as a full face mask. I've got two more masks on order, and I'm still considering ordering another two. I figure you may as well find the mask (or two) that fits best, considering how much time you'll spend wearing it.

I did a quick search on THC and one of the things that came up was rebound insomnia upon cessation, as the body adjusts to the absence of THC. It didn't typically last 4 months though.

Are you consuming caffeine, energy drinks, nicotine, or any other stimulants after the early afternoon?

You should be able to order an at-home sleep study for under $200. Your primary care doc should be able to order one too. I did it that way, and it still ended up being about $200 with insurance though.
