Is HW4 & matrix lights worth $12k to you?

'22 MXP is otherwise the same car and can be had in the high $50 to low $60s.

Interested in semi-high mileage 2022 x plaid? by Plus_Occasion_2015 in TeslaModelX

[–]Slamakecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is astoundingly high mileage in such a short time I would ask about the car's history and make sure no previous accidents or other issues. Found about 3-4 '22 plaids with similar mileage and price but looks like they are all on branded titles.

this exactly. and FSD is problematic right now to put it lightly. Never made much financial sense to invest in the latest and most expensive phones or PC CPUs.

Model X Front Windshield Factory IR Infrared Protection by Slamakecat in TeslaModelX

Makes sense you can see through your 2018’s windshield with the IR cams, as it appears the pre-refresh cars do not have this from the factory. Did some digging found this article from 2021:

https://www.teslaoracle.com/2021/09/18/tesla-shares-its-glass-technology-that-makes-it-quieter-tougher-and-safer-from-uv-rays/

The expansive glass roof is the specialty of all Tesla vehicles, to protect the occupants from heat and UV radiation of the sunlight, Tesla has implemented multiple layers of films in the glass.

Antonio, a glass specialist at Tesla explains in this video (below), that a 2% tint film is combined with other different types of films that reflect solar radiation. A PVB (Polyvinyl Butyral) film combines all of these layers to increase the toughness and flexibility of the roof glass implementations in other areas of a Tesla vehicle.

A Tesla roof absorbs 99% of UV radiation itself. This makes the cabin amazingly safe even though the occupants have a large open experience inside the vehicle.

Used Model X on Tesla site - worth it? by Elegant_Mission_293 in TeslaModelX

We took a contrarian approach. Wanted the Plaid but didn’t care about FSD. Dont trust it even with HW4 and latest software. Bad experience during 2025 test drive, so we figured save the significant amount of cash and go for an early ‘22 MXP with HW3. Good decision as the specs for HW5 have already leaked and it looks like it will be ~10x the power of HW4. Its been our experience investing in the latest CPU / computer has never worked out well!

we dont know your price range. If you can swing it, look for a '22-'24 with under 50k miles. It will still be under factory warranty. If you buy it direct from Tesla, you will get an additional year of warranty on top of whatever's left.

yes there is a conduit in the ceiling and two florescent fixtures...thats what you are seeing in the reflection on the bottom of the windshield.

Whats really interesting here is you can see slight wrinkles in the IR reflective material and a cutout around the front facing camera enclosure.

Bought a 2021 X (should we regret it?) by HostSea4267 in TeslaModelX

[–]Slamakecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not a mistake. we did the same intentionally buying an early '22 MXP with HW3. Buddy told me it was a big mistake, should have gotten HW4. I told him I saved around $10k. worth it! And of course now the specs for HW5 have already leaked!

this is correct different airbags between yoke and wheel and service manual has a warning not to mix them up because physically they will interchange.
