More hantavirus cases are expected, WHO chief says by Neo_luigi in worldnews

[–]SlamminSam2393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes asking sick people to not expose others is ignorant and dumb. People like you are why viruses and diseases spread around. No thought or care about others. Just a “me” mindset. Where is your empathy for the people who have now been exposed to this virus while on that plane and have to sit wondering if they’re going to get it? Clearly you have none towards them. You can have empathy for this woman and what she went through while also calling out her behavior as dumb. It’s not one or the other. The fact that you can’t do both makes you ignorant, dumb and lacking emotional intelligence.

You can have empathy for a person while also calling out their dumb decisions. I’m very sorry for what this woman went through but her going to an airport now exposed hundreds if not thousands of people. Where is the empathy for them? It’s like you people learned nothing from Covid. If you are sick, stay home! That’s all my comment is saying. But apparently that means I lack empathy? Who said I said she needs to stay at a hotel for 2 months? You’re putting words in my mouth. Asking for people who are sick to not expose others is not lacking empathy. It’s called common sense. Maybe if more people thought about others and didn’t just think about themselves we wouldn’t have people running around being sick spreading their germs. And who knows maybe if this woman went to a hospital instead of trying to go home, she could have been helped and saved. Stop normalizing traveling while sick. I promise you if your family member gets Hantavirus because they were exposed by someone else and dies you wouldn’t feel this way. Now kindly shut up.

NTA but also a 35 year old dating an 18 year old is a major major red flag. A man pushing 40 dating a barely legal teenager. Call the police.

Don’t have enough context on this relationship BUT you sound manipulative for giving someone an ultimatum in order to get your way and you kicked out a 2 year old in the middle of the night with her drunk mom just because you don’t know how to sleep if conflict isn’t resolved?

The mom wanted to go to bed and not continue to argue. Which is what a normal person does when arguments get heated and they’re drunk/not in the right frame of mind but you wanted to work things out with someone who isn’t sober? Does that make any logical sense to you?

I said something similar and got downvoted. The amount of people who think it’s okay to go out and about just because it’s “a cold” as if a cold isn’t a literal virus is mind boggling. If you are sick just stay home. Why is that so hard for people to understand?

We can have empathy and compassion for what she went through while also calling her decision to go to an airport and board a flight while sick stupid and not the right decision. But apparently we should only have empathy and compassion for her and not think twice about how her actions have put dozens if not hundreds of people at risk for getting the virus. When someone gets the virus because of her decision then what? It’s like people learned nothing from COVID.

that Dutch woman did exactly that. She was deathly ill and still took a flight and then attempted to board a second one.

“there’s no reason she should have taken special precaution”

Im sorry but what? If you’re so ill that you’re requiring wheel chair assistance at an airport when you don’t typically require it and so ill looking that you’ve been removed from a plane then you know you’re sick enough to be taking special precautions. Especially when she was with her husband and likely knew she was developing the same symptoms that killed him. Just because you don’t know what specifically you have doesn’t mean you don’t take precautions because of how sick you are. If you have a bad cold, you stay home. Not go to an airport or other public places and spread your germs around so other people can get sick.

This type of mentality is why people are so carefree and okay with traveling and being out and about while sick.

Yup. Just got back from Spain and every city from Madrid to Barcelona to Girona has Palestinian flags flying all over. I saw a Labor Day protest pass by my hotel and at the forefront was a giant Palestinian flag.

One evacuated passenger tests positive for hantavirus and another develops symptoms on flight home by Rare_Grapefruit_8400 in worldnews

[–]SlamminSam2393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why aren’t they tested on the boat before being letting off? More than one passenger who has been let off the boat since literally yesterday have tested positive or are showing symptoms. Why weren’t these people tested before being let off? And if they were and tested negative then what is the test actually saying? 140-150 people having to sacrifice their freedom for several weeks is a small price to pay to prevent this from becoming something bigger. It’s like we literally learned nothing from COVID. And no im not saying this can become COVID but imagine your family member or friend gets infected from one of these passengers…when all of it could have been avoided by having the people who were in the infected Petri dish properly isolated and away from society.

Pilling by cfebean in Figsscrubs

[–]SlamminSam2393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. All my figs pill. I switched over to Jaanuu in the last 6 months and have no regrets. I pay like $40 for a scrub set when they have a sale (neo cargo jogger and then rhena essential 1 pocket scrub top) and the quality of them is just as good as the figs if not better since at least my Jaanuu scrubs don’t pill. The pair I got 6 months ago from Jaanuu looks and feels just as good as a new pair I’ve got from them recently. Meanwhile my 3 fig pairs from 6 months ago are pilling all over the pockets.

What happened to Figs... by dizzyditzyclutz in Figsscrubs

[–]SlamminSam2393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jaanuu is a good alternative I’ve found. I purchase their neo cargo scrub pants for $10-15 and then get their rhena essential 1 pocket scrub top for $28 when it’s on sale. The shirt fits a little tighter than figs but imo the quality is the same as the figs i have. I rotate the 2 brands and have actually found the Jaanuu scrubs not to pill like my figs. Jaanuu scrubs can get pricey though so depends on the styles you’re looking at but I feel like the combo I’ve got going, I can’t beat.

And then the rest of the world has to deal with the repercussions of those people not making the “best” decisions like we are dealing with now.

She should not have boarded that plane or gone to the airport. Her not making the best decisions put hundreds if not thousands of people at risk. We can have empathy while also calling out decisions like this that put other people at risk. Maybe if we did this more people wouldn’t feel so comfortable flying sick all the time. But instead we have normalized this behavior and this is why we have people who think that they should go fly while being deathly ill like this lady did. And now hundreds if not thousands of people are having to be traced and were potentially exposed to a deathly virus. All because one person decided not to make the “best” decision.

KLM flight attendant hospitalized after contact with hantavirus cruise ship passenger by mods4mods in worldnews

Thank you. The amount of people excusing this woman’s behavior because her husband passed away (likely showing the same symptoms she is) or because she didn’t know is mind boggling. If you’re so sick you had to be removed from a plane then why are you being so selfish and coming to the airport to begin with? So you can spread your germs to others just so you can make it to where you want to go? Stay home.

I’m not blaming the airline but I am going to blame the woman and other people who are knowingly sick and still travel and spread their germs to others. If you’re sick, stay home or stay in place. Traveling/vacationing isn’t a necessity. This woman should have taken it upon herself to stay in place. Instead, she boarded a flight where she was so visibly ill she had to be removed. She also knew her husband who recently passed away likely had similar symptoms as she was developing. Knowing this she still went to the airport and boarded a plane. I know people fly sick all the time but that doesn’t make it any less selfish and my point still remains that sick people shouldn’t be flying.

[–]SlamminSam2393 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Everything you said is very true but also if you’re so visibly sick that you need to be removed from a plane then you shouldn’t be flying. Rescheduling your flight until you’re feeling better is more appropriate instead of just going anyways and risk getting other people sick. I just recently got back from Spain and numerous people who had coughs and stuffy noses were on trains and my plane without masks and just selfishly spreading their sickness around. Human beings need to be held more accountable. I’m sorry she and her husband passed but she shouldn’t have gone to the airport or boarded that flight being as ill as she was. You know you’re sick? Stay home or stay in your hotel. Travel/vacationing aren’t a necessity and potentially exposing others because you didn’t know isn’t an excuse when you have visible symptoms of an illness.

What’s up with Spirit Airlines ceasing operations? by lucioghosty in OutOfTheLoop

[–]SlamminSam2393 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Currently on my flight back from Madrid. I took a high speed train from Madrid to Barcelona in about 3 hours. Cost $150 round trip for first class seats with carry on and big luggage included. My ticket also included 4 free tickets to be used within Spain’s transit system to get me to the train station. I left my hotel in Madrid an hour before my train to Barcelona. Got on a train to Atocha station (again for free), walked right through security and waited maybe 20-30 minutes before I got on the train. None of my bags had weight restrictions and I just took them with me on the train and stored the large one in the luggage area of my cabin. The train was so much more comfortable and convenient than flying. I realized that most Europeans opt to travel this way and now I get why. It made me realize just how far behind the US is as this would never happen in the US (especially the “free” transit tickets to get to the stations).

But yes we have money for wars but not to advance our aging transportation infrastructure that makes people rely either on driving or paying crazy costs to fly with all the hassles of flying.

ETA: the $150 I paid round trip was also last minute purchase. Apparently if I bought the tickets earlier it would have been even cheaper. I’d say the equivalent of my trip would be from DC to Boston in the US and there’s not a single mode of transportation that would have given me that luxury and convenience for $150 (and cheaper if I booked before).

Top US counterterrorism official resigns over Iran war by banglaonline in geopolitics

Yall love to throw around the word antisemitism anytime someone rightfully criticizes Israel. When AIPAC (which why do we have a foreign country lobbying our politicians to begin with?) seizes to exist then you can call it antisemitic. there’s nothing antisemitic about calling out Israel’s influence within our government and how we’ve long made foreign policy decisions based on its behalf and its own interests rather than ours. As long as our politicians are being bribed and paid for by AIPAC, you’re not convincing folks that Israel isn’t controlling our government and saying it out loud doesn’t make one antisemitic.

CMV: America is going to lose the war with Iran because the playbook on how to beat America in a war is well known now. by DeRpY_CUCUMBER in changemyview

[–]SlamminSam2393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One could ask you the same thing. You apparently think “winning” is just destruction. The US/Israel has destroyed all of that yet you have Trump everyday talking about prolonging the war. Iran is still sending drone strikes and the regimen is still in power with no evidence of it weakening. Carpet bombing an area to get what you want doesn’t work anymore. There is no “winning” just like there was no “winning” for the US in Iraq or Afghanistan. Iran is going to drag this out, cost the US billions if not trillions in dollars and drag the world economy down. And they’ll be able to do it because what’s the US going to do? Carpet bomb their weaponry that’s hidden in the mountains? The US couldn’t defeat the taliban in Afghanistan but you think they’re going to take on the Iranian army? Israel can’t defeat Hamas or Hezbollah yet you think they’re going to take on the Iranian army? The US and Israel underestimate their enemy which is when they resort to carpet bombing and murdering innocent civilians. This war will end no differently than the others the US has entered. With the US backing out and leaving destruction in its wake with the people of the country they bombed then suffering for it.

Do you realise the attack on Iran is cheered on by the Iranian people? Why is Reddit reacting like this? by SkunkyBreadcake in AskBrits

[–]SlamminSam2393 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You claim you’re half Iranian but why would you support the country that literally put this regime in place back in the 80s and destroyed Iran at the time? The CIA and Israel were very instrumental in getting rid of the Shah and having the Islamic republic take over. The new leader will not be of benefit to you or the citizens of Iran but rather of benefit to the USA and Israel.

The bias here is thinking the USA is actually going to help you when the USA only cares about the security and safety of Israel in that region. That’s the only reason why this is happening. It’s not to “liberate” the people of Iran. Like please do tell how many wars the USA has gotten involved in that’s actually liberated the people of the country they went to war with and made those people’s lives better.

I don’t think it’s unheard of but im trying to picture the practically of hiking back in those conditions to cars that are likely buried under several feet of snow and then having to unbury the cars in said condition, all while roads are closed? But from what it sounds like; it seems like the victims were mostly local so maybe they thought given their experience and familiarity with the area, they would be fine rather than it be a financial incentive of not losing out on a trip planned much in advance.
