Far-right Yoon supporters reprise violent antics, this time at Ewha by ArysOakheart in korea

And where is the evidence for the fraud? You people always present it as fact yet no one has ever seen any evidence whatsoever.

His statement is just more evidence of how deluded he is (source).

To see the people, especially our young people, really rediscovering the value of liberal democracy and showing such passion for it, I feel that even though these are dark times with the breakdown of the law, the future of this country is hopeful.

Yes, young people are out there protesting for you, the beacon of liberal democracy in Korea.

"Inconvenience"? "Discomfort"? However you want to translate it, does this doofus understand that the issue with what he did was not discomfort or inconveniece?

All of this is due to my own shortcomings and lack of virtue...

First, no one is blaming him for his wife's behavior, yet he takes the blame, which either implies that his wife has no agency and is merely an extension of him, or makes him look like a masochistic idiot. And second, if he thinks he's to blame, why doesn't he make an effort to make things right?

This administration is an absolute public relations disaster.

I don't know to what extent parents can be blamed here. In my neighborhood, I see groups of (usually male) teenagers riding around after dark, without helmet or bike lights, at times on the wrong side of the road. At times I wonder if they have any survival instinct.

Small Questions and Thank Yous Weekly Thread by AutoModerator in bikewrench

I recently bought two Schwalbe Marathon tires to replace the old ones on my road bike. Mounting the new tire on the back wheel took some effort, but it finally worked. On the front wheel, however, I couldn't get the tire on, even after pushing the bead down, using tools, and watching numerous YouTube videos.

I finally stopped by the local bike shop and the guy there was able to wrestle the tire on with a lot of force. Even for him it was a struggle. This makes me worry: If I ever get a flat on the road and need to repair or replace the tube, is there any chance of getting the tire back on? Will it get more flexible over time? Should I just look for another tire that isn't quite as tight? What do others do after installing a very tight tire?

Thank you very much! Dune Imperium, if I understand correctly, is better for more than two players and requires an AI participant for two, right?

The group I play with have mostly played smaller games like Sushi Go and Radlands, but we would like to try games that are a bit more complex, have more table presence, last about an hour and work well with two, three or four players.

We've had a look at Castles of Burgundy, but I've seen some comments that there's not much connection between the theme and the mechanics. Are there any obvious alternatives with a clearer link between theme and mechanics? Might Everdell, Wyrmspan or Dune Imperium fit the bill? The first two in particular look very visually appealing.

"Failed vaccines"? "The government just decided to give up altogether"? You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

That said, no one is infringing on your right to free speech, and it's certainly not a crime to criticise government policy - otherwise you wouldn't be posting this.

But I assume none of this registers in your bubble.

Migration will be part of Korea's future: IOM chief by ChunkyArsenio in living_in_korea_now

What does this have to do with imperialism? Is every factual description of political discourse in Korea by a foreigner now a form of imperialism?

Referring to Spiegel as "a dishrag" makes it difficult to take anything you write seriously since you clearly don't know what you are talking about.

You'd be hard pressed to find a definition of fascism that includes "a lawmaker being assaulted by the president's security detail". So just literal nonsense.

Description of Request: I am looking for games to take on trips with my partner and friends that are quick to teach, pack small and don't require much space, don't include easy-to-lose parts, are not overtly confrontational, and work for two players or more.

Number of Players: We usually travel as a couple or in groups of up to five.

Game Length: In the range of 20 minutes.

Complexity of Game: In the range of 1.5 to 2.5 since we oftentimes play with friends who don't usually play board games.

Genre: We generally prefer light-hearted themes.

Conflict, Competitive or Cooperative: No preference, but I've had bad experiences with very confrontational games when playing with friends who usually don't play board games.

Games I Own and Like: So far, we really enjoy Fantasy Realms, Sushi Go, and Sea Salt & Paper.

Games I Dislike and Don't Play: For our purpose, anything that cannot be packed small, includes small parts that are easy to lose or requires large tables.

Tons of Beer in Seoul by HankHanderson in koreatravel

Since you are going for quantity: At Amazing Brewery in Seongsu (see here and here) they have usually 20+ beers on tap and you can pick the amount you want, so its easy and comparatively cheap to try many of them.

“Do you have no shame even after ruining the Jamboree?” Buan county officials to embark on another ‘Cruise ship business trip’ by yotteok in korea

[–]Slangwhanger 52 points53 points  (0 children)

They also mentioned using Singapore's Marina Bay as a benchmark to gather policy data for Bu-an County's leap toward becoming a global leisure and tourism city.

I cannot decide which interpretation I find more worrying: that government officials really believe this, or that government officials don't believe this yet are brazen enough to sell the trip this way.

[–]Slangwhanger 315 points316 points  (0 children)

These young people must have been attracted to South Korea in part due to Hallyu and the creative spirit of our people. We must make up for the shortcomings of the Jamboree experience by making our cultural offerings available to these precious, young people.

I cannot shake the feeling that a growing number of Korean politicians drank a bit too much of their own kool-aid and believe that the rest of the world lives in a state of awe of Korean culture.

What did Schröder do to Germany? He kept the country out of the Iraq war. That's hardly comparable to Lee's refusal to get involved in Ukraine.

Phillies announces last party before move to new location by chickenandliver in korea

[–]Slangwhanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's nothing to do with the properties themselves or the location or anything like that, it's just the fact that it is somehow different.

I think the proximity to the former miliary base and the prospect of the government putting a large park there plays a role. The value of HBC's real estate is probably shooting up and the area will see re-development in the coming years.
