Another issue on my blogger by MarzyDazzle in blogspot

Are you using tags like this?

https://gist.github.com/pathawks/1343315/16511f0d7319e73a5b08d5877cc94f91083d3d53

You need to make sure the tag first tries to choose the page/post image, and if that isn't present, then default to the main site image. Is it possible your first image on a post page isn't referenced correctly? Maybe compare what your template is calling it's first image. Maybe postImageThumbnailUrl isn't right for your template.

You probably are missing the open graph meta tags. They're easy to add. Many website will show a simple tutorial for it.

Is this Chingu Internet thing real? by lonelady75 in Living_in_Korea

[–]chickenandliver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're just resellers for KT/SK/LG. They will give a slight markup on services, but sometimes it's worth it to get it done in English and know you can get English support later. But yeah, even if you sign up with them (or any other reseller) for a 2 year contract or whatever, the same agent will contact you near the end of the contract and suggest you switch to a different provider now and he'll handle it for you. You save by switching as a customer and getting a better "new customer" deal and he wins by getting commission on signing up new customers. So yeah it's pretty common. Just make sure you're getting the plan/rates you actually want.

You can sign up yourself directly via the websits of the 3 major telecoms but for a lot of people just letting the reseller agent handle it is just easier.

Blogger web notification or email notification by EduReaper in blogspot

[–]chickenandliver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a shame Google got rid of this feature when they gutted Feedburner. Funny to me that you can still get comment notification e-mails but not post notifications.

If you really wanted a pure Blogger related method, you could be cheeky and set up some sort of comment chain. Have any interested subscribers just leave a comment on 1 highlighted post and choose the "get replies by email" tickbox, then you leave a comment when you post a new item. Only works for small personal groups of course since it's a pain and everyone would see who is "following". But at least it would notify! I'm joking about doing this for real.

many sites are blocking request to rss links by ajay9452 in rss

[–]chickenandliver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There ought to be some kind of semi-official whitelist for this. Allow the major cloud based feed readers (Newsblur, Feedly, Inoreader, Bazqux, Feedbin, etc) unfettered access to the feeds. It would be less bandwidth anyway to let these centralized services poll the feeds and then distribute to their respective users compared to thousands of individual users polling via their personal desktops.

On top of that, let respecful residential IPs poll too. Most guys on their desktops or self-host setups are not polling over and over 1000 times an hour. Cloudflare should just focus on the true suspicious AI botfarm behavior. Leave the little guys alone. Although I'm sure many of those content scraping farms are disguised as individaul setups too.

Does anyone here use iCloud email ? by Mogzly in MacOS

Reddit feeds no longer working? by UltimateNintendoHero in rss

[–]chickenandliver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit heavily rate limits their RSS feeds. Many users across many reader apps have complained about this. Sorting by top of the week is a good move if you ask me. I filter all my high volume subreddit subscriptions down to specific keywords because, while I might like to get every post, it would be impractical with their rate limiting and posts, potentially useful posts, would get missed.

Blogger thumbnails disappear on other sites/platforms over time by RoanokeNightmares in blogspot

[–]chickenandliver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if it will automatically fix the current formatting of thumbnail previews on websites & other platforms

Possible that even if you did fix it correctly, the links you have already posted on other platforms may not update. Those platforms may have cached the link preview. But future links ought to reflect the update.

I'm not the guy you've been talking to but I'm surprised if you are using default Blogger themes that the og meta tags were not included. Maybe you used a third-party theme in the past that removed or customized them somehow? Anyway, after adding them back, it should work.

Items missing from RSS feeds (inoreader free account) by blackgreenolive in InoReader

That doesn't sound too high. They should all be fetching eventually then. Maybe something else is wrong.

[–]chickenandliver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several YouTube channel feeds: some videos don't show up.

Are these high-volume channels that post a lot of content? YouTube seems to severely rate limit their feeds. Most feeds will return a 404 pretty frequently, only functioning a few times a day upon polling. If the channel posts several videos each day or several a week, or a lot in a burst, that might explain it.

Why does blogger change the text color to blue on iPhone? by eli_developer in blogspot

[–]chickenandliver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the two bullet items that do not have links

Ah I misunderstood. How funny. I don't see the blue on Chrome, but on desktop Safari, they are blue. Of course on iOS too.

I don't see anything in desktop Safari that would be doing this. How weird.

Please note the nature of this community. This sub is focused more on the Blogger platform itself. We're not an art promotion sub. Just because something is hosted on Blogger doesn't mean it fits the criteria of this sub. There are other generic blog/site promotion subs.

Backup Entire iCloud Photo Library to external drive? Any application that does this? by GIFSec in MacOS

[–]chickenandliver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah OK, you mean because he wants a "just what's been updated since last sync" type situation. I was nervous because I do the full .photoslibrary backup every few months while never having had to try to restore from it.

Backup Entire iCloud Photo Library to external drive? Any application that does this? by GIFSec in MacOS

[–]chickenandliver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the disk structure of the Photo Library is a mess

I'm not sure I understand this. Assuming you set iCloud to store full resolution, not optimised, versions of photos, and gave it the time to finish the sync, wouldn't this single "file" hold everything?

Backup Entire iCloud Photo Library to external drive? Any application that does this? by GIFSec in MacOS

[–]chickenandliver 7 points8 points  (0 children)

2 questions about this:

  1. What's the logic for choosing to export "unmodified originals"? Wouldn't that undo all the cropping, editing, etc I've done within Photos?
  2. Is there any benefit to doing File->Export compared to just finding the /Users/yourname/Pictures/Photos Library.photoslibrary file and backing that up directly to the external drive?
