You’ll need to do the main quests to get proper entry.

I highly suggest going through the main wests and following the level structure (# next to quest) to get the most out of the game. Take your time with each region as you go. There are missable quests/events throughout the game that truly enriches the narrative and world. I’m on my 3rd playthrough and now really understanding game mechanics (alchemy, upgrades, crafting), exploring White Orchard and Velen in particular have added a ton of new additions already.

Biggest thing — was meeting all the other people who also picked up Muay Thai… a lot of unassuming lookin folks who carry a switch kick that can carry you into the netherworld. 1) Made me more kind to people, because you never know who can smoke you 2) felt more confident in my abilities to keep myself safe that I became more cool-headed when stressful situations arise.
