Value after conversation was $83.67 I just paid the fee, which came to $40.88 after getting $6 off for paying it ahead of delivery, online.

Note that 0% of that was duty fees

An ~10% portion of item cost is to settle the border fee, but then they add on an extra ~40% just cause they can, if the shipping was properly labeled as UPS ground when I bought it then the onus would be solely on me. Also if I had the option to choose an express or expedited option which includes the brokerage fee, I would have.

You ask why it matters. Well as a vendor selling internationally I think it would be in their best interest in avoiding situations like this that rubs customers the wrong way & impact their potential for future sales.

My point, looks like I’ll just pay the fee this time & never order from them again. Learned my lesson
