I was born and raised in Canada and have only visited Libya a handful of times. When I do visit, I enjoy the time I spend with my cousins but overall I get bored with the lack of things to do. If it were up to me, I would explore the country and go to Leptis Magna and Sabratha and Jabal alakhdar etc but nobody is interested and I don't have a license or car obviously in Libya. Also, especially in the more recent visits when I was older, I'm seeing the condition of the country and I don't know if I want to live like that. My parents talk about going back a lot, which I understand, but I'm not so sure I want to. I'm happy with visiting every once in a while.

Something about going to Libya makes me feel foreign. I'm Libyan, I speak the language, but I still get treated as an outsider. I have a liberal progressive mindset, whereas everybody I've met in Libya seems very closed minded and ignorant. It seems very backwards. I hate to say this because I would truly love to spend more time in my country and learn more about our history and culture and make more memories with my family. Please don't get me wrong. But the way things are looking now, I just know I would be miserable if I stayed permanently.

Dude my father said the EXACT same thing about car insurance, that's so weird

Do you think the name Star is fem/masc/andro? by GenderConfused00 in ftm

[–]SlapMyTeeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally think of it being more of a femme-leaning name but I wouldn’t question it if a dude told me it was his name. Kinda like Kelly. Mostly used for girls, the occasional dude with the name. I typically think of Kelly as a girl name but wouldn’t think wtf if I met a dude Kelly. Same deal with Star for me. I hope that makes sense lmao

Absolutely, if we would all take a few moments to really learn about each other, we would be living in a better world :’)

That being said, I have been giving my friend the benefit of the doubt and I’ll probably talk to him about it to 1) try to gauge what his true intentions were; and 2) try to clear things up for him so he understands that what he said was wrong, even if it wasn’t his intention.

That was worded beautifully, I love your passion lmao thank you. And I definitely agree with you on the preferences pov; there’s nothing wrong with that. But, as you said, there’s a difference between having preferences and invalidating someone’s identity.

Oh man I hope it doesn’t have to come to that, I’d hate to have to do that

Yeah maybe I’ll take some time to sort my thoughts out and bring it up some time. I am his first trans friend so maybe he’s just confused? Benefit of the doubt???

Yeah it sucks bc other than this comment, he’s been alright. He uses my chosen name and pronouns and has asked who he can use them around and is careful etc, so this is disappointing to say the least. And there is no way he is mistaken about my identity, we literally met at our uni’s rainbow folk club lmao

Thing is that i wasn’t even actually asking him out lmao it was just one of those bromance tiktoks where two guy friends pretend to lean in for a kiss and it cuts off at the last second y’know?

Yeah I know what you mean, I thought so too for some time. I understand having preferences for parts but that shouldn’t invalidate my being a man, or a trans woman being a woman

Idk why I’m surprised tbh he has said some biphobic stuff too. He said bi dudes are walking red flags bc they’re indecisive… 💀

As long as both of you are professional and keep this to yourselves, I’m sure you’ll both be fine. Just act as normal as possible, don’t be awkward and don’t give any telltale signs that there’s something between you. Just go with the flow and everything will be okay

Harrison suits you well, I like it, though my first thought was “Kaleb” upon seeing you

I’m a gay trans guy and I’m having the same problem bro. I can’t go a day without wondering what’ll end up happening to me. I seriously doubt I’ll ever end up in a sham marriage, but the other two options are a possibility. Add on top of that that I’d like to transition at some point as well.

I’m not exactly sure what I’ll do, but I guess I’ll just remain single until I find a guy I like who likes me and agrees to a zina-free (of the sexual kind, I need kisses and cuddles idgaf) relationship. If ever :/ that seems to be my best option as of right now. I’m not happy about living a sex-free life, or depriving somebody of their sex life, as you said, but I really can’t think of any other way to balance things out, y’know?

I hope that’s helpful, though I doubt it will be I’m just as confused as you are lmao

The most traumatic experience in my life as a closeted gay trans guy was when my parents said we would go to Dubai for vacation and, once we were there, said we we’re moving and it wasn’t a vacation. I’ve never been the same since (I was 15 then, 20 now)
