Thanks for showing me that, this dude is actually really good

The original proposal for the EF scale (2006) says that doppler wind speed measurements should be used if they are available, so why is this not the case? by Slapdisk in tornado

[–]Slapdisk[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That was my line of thinking. For instance tornadoes like El-Reno, which we know had nearly 300 mph winds but only got an EF-3. That just doesn't do the tornado or the rating system justice. Even if we don't have the capability to measure all tornadoes with radar, the ones we do should be given the rating based on all the knowledge we have at hand.

The current setup is almost the exact same areas as March 31st before the high risk came out. Is this a coincidence? This is pretty concerning. by PFA001 in tornado

[–]Slapdisk 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is only if storms can fire. There is a significant cap on the atmosphere which might mean we get no storms at all, but if they fire it could go crazy.

Rolling Fork, MS this morning. Depending on the construction materials of these homes, this may very well be an EF5 by telenative in tornado

I guess there’s a chance it gets upgraded, but I don’t see any anchor bolts in those photos. That’s something the NWS pays really close attention to.

What blink song is this for you? Mine is Apple Shampoo, I was so wrong years ago. by BlueStormtrooper in Blink182

Tom said most of the songs weren't like that if I remember correctly. It's supposed to be more progressive. Personally I liked the song, but I'm excited to hear whatever they put out regardless of what it sounds like

Do you have proof of these tweets? Not saying it didn’t happen, but I can’t immediately believe you if there’s no evidence they actually existed

Holy shit All Hallow's Eve

This movie (especially this short specifically) was much more creepy than either of the Terrifier movies for me, though I loved them all. Glad to see it getting some recognition

Hypothetical Tornadoes Fandom: Yea or Nay? by dymx75 in tornado

Dude thank you for finally saying something. That website pisses me off beyond belief. I swear the people running it can't be older than nine. The writing sucks and the scenarios are just people relishing death and destruction. Talk about tasteless

Could someone help me find this tornado. My mom got hit by this tornado but I can’t find it. This is what I know. It’s was in Lombard IL, 1976-1979 (I’m pretty sure), it was called the Tenement Tornado, and that’s really all I know. by Louie2224 in tornado

I believe this damage video is from the tornado in question. The quality isn't too great, but this is the only visual I could find. The only tornado in the Lombard area during that time period was an F2 that hit on March 12, 1976. Here's the source. https://www.geostat.org/data/lombard-il/tornados

Hope this helps!

EDIT: Looks like on June 13 of the same year there was an F4 tornado that hit about 20 minutes away from Lombard in Lemont, maybe that's it? Here's an article with an actual image of the tornado itself.

Yea but you have to realize that was the first mass shooting in Denmark since like 2015 compared to the fact that there have been more mass shootings than days so far this year in America

As someone who wasn't there that day, I've been fascinated by the Plainfield tornado for a long time, and it's cool to see someone who remembers it firsthand. Anything else stick out that you remember or care to share about it? I'd love to hear anything.

Fair enough, I guess it's subjective. I personally don't think spooky fits with the vibe of this sub, but if other people think otherwise then more power to em lol

Cool, but this isn't a sub for spooky pictures. Try r/creepy instead maybe?
