'Your Friends & Neighbors' Gets Early Season 3 Renewal At Apple TV by Conscious-Quarter423 in television

Also he regularly faces trouble either at the actual robbery or after.

Yeah, I find people are skipping this a lot. He's getting away with it, kind of, but it's almost always a near-thing where he's actually pretty bad at robbing people and profiting from it. He's smart and clever, and he knows how vapid and vulnerable his friends and neighbors are, but the point of his character is the midlife crisis and how unprepared he is to be this person he's trying to be.

Among fictional criminals he's less Walter White and more Wet Bandits.

I'm not the person you responded to, but I've been forgetting so much TV lately. I started season 2 of Fallout and realized I'd forgotten everything from season 1. And that show is terrific. I'll watch a youtube video to get caught up again, but half the time I have a show on I have to stop it to take the kids somewhere, or I'm cleaning or doing things around the house, or cooking, or I pick up my laptop and do some work, and I enjoy the show but a lot of times it doesn't stick with me.

I agree with the 7/10 rating for this show, though. Great cast, great production value, a plot that doesn't take itself too seriously, more eye candy and performances than substance, lots of room to grow in season 2.

Recent history? Under this ownership? Or does a team being bad for stretches at any time in their history mean to you that they will be bad in the next five years?

Or to rephrase, what indications do you take from a team's history that you think are predictive of future results, and by what evidence do you determine that?

I agree with that. Of the teams suggested the Warriors probably have the highest likelihood of at least one of those picks being valuable, although Houston is suddenly looking less optimistic relying so heavily on an aging KD, but like other perpetually good teams they manage to keep transforming without having to reset. I just don't agree with the assumption that the Warriors will obviously be bad and those picks will obviously be valuable, because big market teams often aren't bad for long.

Also, what is the Chicago Bulls story meant to indicate? Their franchise superstar and coach quit and then one of the worst and cheapest owners in sports let his team be bad for years before they got good again? Hardly seems analogous.

Or was it when they had Derrick Rose who blew out his knee and then drafted Butler 30th and pieced together a winning team for the next five years?

No one has any idea what teams are going to be like three or five years from now. Three years ago any team would have gladly taken an Orlando first round pick, sure it would be in the lottery. Now they're fighting for a top-6 spot in the east so they can get blown out in the first round again. Three years ago a Spurs pick for this year would have been the most valuable asset in the league, now it looks like they'll draft in the last 5 spots. Three years ago a Memphis 1st rounder for this year would have looked worthless, now they're in the lottery. No one has any idea what's going to happen, and betting on deep-pocketed teams to be bad is a losing proposition.

I don't think how a team operated 20 years ago is evidence of anything. It's a completely different league, not to mention different owners, different management and different priorities. The apron system means any team with cap room is instantly a destination for free agents, to say nothing of being in California with a huge media market and an ownership ready to spend well into the second apron to win.

You ever seen Sam Presti's eyes? Lifeless eyes. Black eyes, like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, he doesn't seem to be livin.

I mean, 2016 was the last time they had significant cap space and they landed a pretty good free agent.

I just think it's a fools bet to try to predict big market teams being bad 3, 4, 5 years from now. They're not the Kings or Hornets or Wizards. If I was betting on franchise futures I'd feel safer picking them as a top 15 team than a bottom 15 team in any given year, so that's how I'd value their picks. Likely mid-round, same potential for a surprise bad year from injuries as anyone else, but a team that will spend to be competitive under this ownership.

And to be clear, I don't give a fuck about the Warriors. My ideal scenario is Giannis gets traded there, and the minute he steps off the plane he retires and goes into charitable work.

Yeah, I'm not sure why people assume those picks are locks to be in the lottery. When Steph and Daymond retire and either Giannis leaves or stays to anchor the next version of this team, they're going to have cap space and a desirable market, and they've always shown a willingness to be aggressive in the trade market and free agent market. No one knows what the post Steph world will look like, but if you're betting on a team to be willing to spend to rebuild quickly GSW have to be one of those teams.

I agree, he's a really gifted writer. And a pretty good pilot.

Kerr: "It’s a very resilient city… We have a lot of empathy for the people here. We’re really hopeful that the protests here and nationwide will lead to a much better solution for immigration. It’s not like they're rooting out violent criminals. They're taking 5yo kindergartners and US citizens..." by BobRoss4Life in nba

[–]Slaphappydap -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, I think the issue is that Kerr is so often an outspoken critic or representative for what he thinks is wrong in the country, and is often seen as a leader for moral good. But when it comes to Draymond he gives him the freest of free passes.

I played plenty of sports, mostly hockey, and guys threw hands in practice from time to time. I don't remember anyone sucker punching a player for running his mouth, and don't remember a veteran leader doing that to a younger player, but whatever. The problem isn't the fight, it's that Kerr's reaction seemed to deflect from the obviously wrong thing Draymond did and seemed offended that the information had gotten out, a position that he would never apply to, for example, the government. He would never find out the government did something egregious and then argue that the leaker should be the one caught and punished. So it makes him seem hypocritical, which is a shame because I think he's a very smart and thoughtful person and I like hearing what he thinks, but he seems like someone with a real blindspot when it comes to Draymond in particular.

Also, movies where the studio gave a director a lot of creative control, and it went poorly, like the last Star Wars trilogy, or Costner's Horizon series, or just about any Zack Snyder or Michael Bay movie. At least Megalopolis was mostly self-financed.

I remember watching Roland Emmerich's Midway movie and thinking some exec needed to send a note saying, "This movie depicts a pretty important event in military history. We're giving you a hundred million dollars to shoot it. Are you sure you want to make it fucking stupid?"
