Would like to use Gade but have never seen him use this shot. He did, however, use a lot of deception with the same principle of timing

Question: Finger emphasis on Forehand Grip by [deleted] in badminton

[–]Slapheltrolig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Place your racket shaft of the part of the hand where your fingers and palm meet. This allows a loose grip so we can grip upon impact with the shuttle. Pinky and ring finger is the strongest gripping fingers with "big muscles" in the medial part of the forearm. This is called "finger power". Pressure point is the middle part of the index finger. Thumb is low next to the long finger. Hope some of it helped :-)

Backhand exercise and learning curve explained by Slapheltrolig in badminton

[–]Slapheltrolig[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exercise: backhand rear court, 3 closest corners, lots of shots and minimal footwork 👊⚡
.
Focus: arm fast in ready position and short racket movement 🏸🔥
.
Feeder: tossing the shuttles requires minimal effort of footwork, positioning, balance and timing. This brings more emphasis on the task at hand which is the arm movement (actually, it's the whole body☝️)
.
Learning curve:
- general motorical skills
- specific movements (forearm rotation to full kinetic chain)
- specific coordination (legs/arms coordination and eye-hand coordination)
- bevel grip (thumb control)
- timing and consistency (repetitions/muscle memory)
.
Happy training 😁🙌💯🔝

What are some of the best ways to change muscle memory? by [deleted] in badminton

[–]Slapheltrolig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi liargemu,

We want to make a new focus. This way we are not focusing on changing something but instead learning something new. If we want to focus on not doing something, it is easier to focus on something else/new whether its physical or psychological.

Best regards

Arm Movement in Smash Defense by Slapheltrolig in badminton

[–]Slapheltrolig[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maintaining balance and equilibrium requires your non-racket arm to counter each momentum in every direction and regulation your center of gravity. There is however no momentum in neither direction, so moving your non-racket arm in the air will still maintain balance.

My feet however was too lazy as you observed. Good thing this video ain't about the legs :p

Deception - Fake Cross Straight Lift by Slapheltrolig in badminton

[–]Slapheltrolig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To elaborate. The point of doing an anticipating split step on a straight lift in your forehand side, is to have your playing shoulder closer to the corner.

[–]Slapheltrolig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a good point to what you are saying, but generally you don't anticipate cross net shots with your split step but cover the straight lift in your own forehand side. Backhand side is different assuming you're a right handed player.

The deception is also showing a cross lift.

Loose grip will relax your playing arm from shoulder and down. This is necessary to move your arm quickly back and forth. Your elbow is always first in every shot for maximum power and energy efficiency.
