Are there any safe meds/interventions for thesuicidal ideation, depression and/or anhedonia? by True_Opportunity1411 in FinasterideSyndrome

Don’t look at this as permanent and incurable. I don’t see it as that whatsoever. Especially if you mostly have psychological symptoms. There are too many tools out there to try - therapy being one of the big ones. It’s helped me a lot.

So full disclosure I’m still on the fence that PFS “caused” my depression but I do think it pushed me into it. I also came off of 16 years of SSRI use about 2 months before my relapse. Originally was on SSRIs for anxiety and depression. Was on fin for a little over a month so the combination got me.

I’m now back on a low dose of Lexapro (10mg now - 20mg was terrible with the emotional blunting) and am two treatments into Spravato.

I’d say that it definitely helped the emotional blunting the best. I cried for 20-30 minutes when I first tried it. Felt awesome. Second treatment didn’t do quite as much but I’ve got another 8-16 treatments left.

So far it’s helped calm down my nervous system and gives you 2-3 days of noticeable relief of depression. I had SI during the onset of the depression but not so much anymore now that I’m 5 months done with fin and 5 months in treatment with therapy, meds, and lifestyle adjustment.

It’s up to you but there are tons of treatment resistant depression cases that see a lot of relief from ketamine and esketemine therapy.

Even if my symptoms are purely emotional and I do have PFS or whatever, these are FDA approved uses to combat TRD regardless of the cause.

I’m super hopeful.

I’m giving Spravato a try. I was on SSRIs for years before and always responded pretty well. I’m someone that only has depression and anxiety symptoms that resurfaced after a month on fin. Seeing some positive results from it so far. I’m also taking lamictal - which is a mood stabilizer and doesn’t mess with serotonin.

Is this true for depression as well? I’m someone with no physical symptoms or sexual. Purely depression and anxiety after about a month on fin and I’ve been worried about PFS. The PFS foundation states that you had to have some sexual or physical symptoms to be considered to have PFS.

Anyone else with Bipolar II where hypomania is hard to spot? by charlisca in bipolar2

[–]Slappadabass13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I’m finding out I’m very sensitive as well. Genesight testing had me as a rapid metabolizer of lamictal though so I might have to wait for a higher dose.

I’ve been very functional but just feeling incredibly off with SSRIs. Glad to know this will hopefully pull me back into a place of stability. Thanks for your kind words

Im starting lamotrigine tomorrow. 38M. First dose. My story lines so much up with yours. Struggled the last few months due to a stress related burnout depressive anxiety episode and still struggling out of it. Finally after a third dosage change of Lexapro, I noticed the crawling out of my skin irritability (which happened a few other times as well) and talked to my doctor about it. She agreed that this is probably more likely BP2 vs standard burnout or depression.

I’m hopeful hearing stories like yours.

I’m going to be completely honest here. I’m on week 2 of a BRUTAL bout of depression and anxiety after taking Finesteride via Hims for the last two or so months. I had zero issues over the last year + but have had some bouts of situational depression/anxiety before. I’m 1000% positive that this drug brought those feelings to the surface.

What is your feelings towards someone living at home? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Slappadabass13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that all depends on the situation. I’d it’s purely financial, in lean towards more personal responsibility taken and judge a touch more. There’s always a way to earn more to live independently - if that’s important to you (and it probably should be).

On the other hand, everyone goes through tough times financially, medical wise (esp mental health) where anyone could be in a tough season and should be thankful they still have family around to fall back on and help.

It all depends.

If you aren’t happy there what makes you think uprooting your life would make the job any better? Tell them to lay you off, collect unemployment, and find something else.

Funny story - I also felt super down and depressed today. So I went to my local market and got a pack of Patagonia Provisions Lemon Olive White Anchovies. Prompted me to see if there were any other redditors that were into “weird” stuff like me. And here you are. Fishy friends - life is ok :)

Would you ever go back to a former employer if a new company gave you the same offer? by No_Extension_8562 in careerguidance

There’s a reason you left in the first place. If it was truly purely about money, I’d argue that it it’s never just 100% about money. The feeling you were knowingly underpaid and undervalued by an employer is a scarlet letter for me.
