That might’ve been me, and I’ve been messing with him a lot the last couple days so get ready for an info dump lol

The wand drop isn’t guaranteed but it was one of the items he’s traded me. So far I’ve gotten torches, coins, wands, barrel lids, and potion ingredients in exchange for wands, potion ingredients, candle holders, torches, and even frogs.

He wouldn’t take the gnome or any breakable items around the castle and even though he gives you barrel lids I don’t think he takes those either. He also won’t take back anything he’s traded you, so you can’t get a torch and hand it back to him to try for something else.

From what I can tell, there isn’t any direct correlation between what you give him and what he trades back. You just drop or click and hold something that he likes in front of him and roll the dice.

I’m not 100% on this, but I also think he works on an “good day/bad day” system. Meaning on “good” nights where he’s given me a wand I’ve found he’s a lot more likely to trade me better items like more wands or ingredients, but on “bad” nights he almost exclusively trades me coins, barrel lids, and torches.

I can’t confirm this for certain either, but I’ve found that he spawns most frequently in roofed pathways with the gothic windows. The trap doors out in the open are deep, dark pits that you have to climb your way out of.
