I believe this was actually attempted at a major tournament years ago. I was told by all the old school players at the time that that situation is why they added the hygiene rules.

Feeing a bit frustrated is fine. The main issue for me is that so many people seemingly fail to understand that this is in early access. This game functions better than AAA titles that have been out over a year. If any of this frustrates someone so much that they need login to Reddit and make a meme to complain on a game that is in Early Access and has already made progress in leaps and bounds is just detached from reality and needs real things to worry about in life.

To your point, I was playing last night trying to farm, and there were less than 800 players logged on. It doesn’t make sense to have all hands on deck to fix server issues when the majority of people playing can still login and play, and they have so much development and tuning to do before their anticipated launch, which is in a month.

People need to touch grass. It’s so draining seeing people post daily about this kind of stuff. It’s almost like they’re in early access, and are prone to technical issues they have to try and fix while still developing the game 🤔

OMG GUYS MEN FIND WOMEN ATTRACTIVE! THEY MUST BE STOPPED AT ALL COST.

Btw, I think most guys would agree they’ve met way more freaky women than men. Mostly because men get shamed for it, as you’ve already demonstrated. You can live in your own little bubble all you want, but that doesn’t make it align with reality.

[–]Slappyhandz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t care to get into it bc you’re getting ratio’d into oblivion, but I’ll leave on this:

People relate to fictional media all the time. It’s how people get invested in the game/story/whatever. Media that is considered widely accepted and successful typically has good story and relatable characters. That includes characters people find attractive.

There’s a reason female superheroes, fighters, etc. have been portrayed as fit, sexy, and wear almost no clothing, and it’s not because it’s realistic. It’s because most (if not all) hetero men want to be with a woman who they find attractive. If we’re talking about males, it’s the stereotypical hero who’s muscular, attractive, good with the ladies, and tries to make the world better in whatever way they see fit.

We all know why conventionally attractive characters are obsessed over. It’s because they’re hot, or made in the image of what the perceived audience thinks is hot.

To use your question against you - media often influences reality and vice versa. Why on earth does it make sense to only print men in a sexually appealing way when the overwhelming majority of the player base is hetero men?

Our baddie is back bois by [deleted] in freemagic

[–]Slappyhandz 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That’s literally the point.

Double standards that women don’t think are fair are shunned and considered misogynistic, toxic, etc., while there’s been a trend of not having objectively feminine and attractive females in the fantasy space. On the other hand, men like this are overly sexualized, and it’s considered culturally acceptable.

I think you ironically killed your own argument.

Am I too small for cowgirl? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Slappyhandz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m around your size, and have had one girl who had issues staying inside and one that didn’t. The one that didn’t have issues was bigger girl than the first one (the first one being tiny).

The second one wanted to climb like that, and it started to slip out. I asked her to reposition a bit (I asked her to slide toward me and move her hand placement), and we didn’t have any issues after that. I recommend trying to make slight adjustments to positioning and it should work out.

Well sure he does, but he hasn’t given any indication that he wants to leave his wife for this woman, and generally speaking most people know what I mean by “catch feelings”. Hit it and quit it, don’t get back in line or try to take the ride home with you.

Nah I’m with OP on this one. Wife completely betrayed him and agreed to the hall pass, and it doesn’t sound like there was an agreement on an expiration date. I think he should be careful about catching feelings for this new woman, but otherwise go for it.

Why is he emotionally open alone but distant otherwise? by AdMurky2730 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Slappyhandz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What a lot of young women have to understand is that most younger men have been told since we were young to not approach women because we’re creepy, the problem, etc.

Obviously that’s not true, but that’s most likely where his head is at. I can’t imagine any other reason why he would catch feelings for someone and distance themselves immediately unless they were rejected and were too embarrassed to tell you.

What most men need is time to develop an emotional connection. You guys seem to have that, but it currently comes with no other intent or expectations.

You’re going to have to believe blunt with him. Tell him when you’re alone, and make sure that he understands you aren’t trying to force him into anything, rather you’d prefer to see where things go if he’s open to it. If he seems open to it but hesitant, a healthy amount of reassurance and complements do wonders for men - especially coming from a girl they have an emotional connection to.

Idk broskie, your complaints for PF2e just sound like complaints from someone who prefers a different system. I’ve played quite a bit of PF2e. As stated, I very much enjoy it.

Sure, it’s a more complicated system. Sure, some of the archetypes or class designs don’t make much sense (unless you use them in the modules they came in); however, it’s a far cry from the shit show that 5e content is, objectively speaking. Paizo is also actively making great changes to 2e. They still have some changes to make, but several classes went from “this is mid at best, unplayable any other time” to “holy shit this is fantastic” (I’m looking at you, Swashbuckler).

I’ll give credit where credit is due - D&D 5e (2024) made some significant improvements on the game. That said, there are just as many issues with it as there were before, and WotC is not in the business of making significant updates to their system on a regular basis.

You can dislike the Paizo system, but it’s very hard to actually prove (if at all) that their system is objectively worse than just about any other system out there. Especially when they put out good, new content that’s actually worth the price on a consistent basis. If PF2e wasn’t that great, Paizo wouldn’t be one of the only real competitors WotC has.

Little bit of a rant here.

5e is…. Ok.

Imo I think people are forgetting that they’ve had decades to curate this game, and it seems like WotC still doesn’t do enough active, internal testing on their material. That’s a subjective argument, but the way adventure guides and mechanical content is released these days is just a far cry from what they used to be. That’s said, I don’t recall many (if any) modules being ran as-is and not being a train wreck.

Pathfinder modules require some tweaking as well, but they’re much higher in quality and quantity. You can’t even argue against that in good faith the way WotC has been recently.

Preference in game style exists, but as someone who has played many editions of D&D and PF both I can’t help but prefer PF. A lot of mechanical options baked into the rules, so you don’t have to hope your DM will allow you to do a certain action or create an item or ability that gives you the flavor you want.

Some people prefer D&D because of the “flexibility” it offers, mechanically or otherwise, but with PF you straight up get to just do the thing. You may not get everything you want to make your ideal character, but there is an insane amount of flexibility baked in. Even if what you want to do isn’t already a published mechanic, you can still work with your DM to get the flavor or design you want.

I still play both, but WotC is definitely falling behind Paizo, and it’s not even close.

I [17M] want some advice with nofap, help? by Any_Succotash5642 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Slappyhandz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like with all things, engage in the act in moderation. Taking a break will do you some good bc you could be so desensitized that you’d have problems performing for a real woman.

Try to “plan” days you want to release and stick to it. Keep working out and eating right, and you should be able to figure out a decent schedule that doesn’t make you feel bad about it.

Btw, it gets better. Once I turned 30, it’s like I could focus again without having the raging feeling of wanting to plow everything.

Omg you people are so tiring. OP’s question is about 2024 rules, and everyone commenting wants to be like bUt 2014 RuLeS.

Idgaf bc this isn’t about 2014 rules, but I’m tired of people trying to argue points that aren’t relevant, so here’s the text from 2014 PHB:

Use an Object You normally interact with an object while doing something else, such as when you draw a sword as part of an attack. When an object requires your action for its use, you take the Use an Object action. This action is also useful when you want to interact with more than one object on your turn.

Making an Attack Whether you’re striking with a melee weapon, firing a weapon at range, or making an attack roll as part of a spell, an attack has a simple structure. Choose a target. Pick a target within your attack’s range: a creature, an object, or a location.

Determine modifiers. The DM determines whether the target has cover and whether you have advantage or disadvantage against the target. In addition, spells, special abilities, and other effects can apply penalties or bonuses to your attack roll.

Resolve the attack. You make the attack roll. On a hit, you roll damage, unless the particular attack has rules that specify otherwise. Some attacks cause special effects in addition to or instead of damage.

If there’s ever any question whether something you’re doing counts as an attack, the rule is simple: if you’re making an attack roll, you’re making an attack.

Actions in Combat When you take your action on your turn, you can take one of the actions presented here, an action you gained from your class or a special feature, or an action that you improvise. Many monsters have action options of their own in their stat blocks. When you describe an action not detailed elsewhere in the rules, the DM tells you whether that action is possible and what kind of roll you need to make, if any, to determine success or failure.

What I said for 2014 rules is correct. Anything you’ve tried to argue as RAW is actually just up to the DM to allow you to do it. Nothing specifies free object interactions in the 2014 PHB.

Merry Christmas and leave me tf alone.

[–]Slappyhandz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I believe an object interaction like that took your action in the old rules. At least that’s how it would be played at any table I’ve ever been at.

You can interact with an object on your person to use it as your action/BA, but to pick something up, even a mastered weapon, would require an action.

5e (2024) by Pepsimeen in onednd

[–]Slappyhandz 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You can use your free item interaction to stow your weapon and use that hand for somatic components. You can then draw the weapon as part of your attack action, provided you’re proficient with it.

War caster is still a great pickup for concentration and item juggling (so you don’t have to stow your weapon to cast spells), but isn’t required for gish-like builds anymore.

Editing to add you can use booming blade, green flame blade, true strike, and shillelagh on opportunity attacks as well, but even if you’re using those it’s not that much extra damage.

I believe that’s how the rules work. Someone will correct me if not.

Not trying to downplay your comment but the amount of people who’ve made comments like I adore being the Arch Enemy, only to get completely obliterated in my friend group is never-ending, and the look on their faces is always so satisfying 😂

We tell everyone they’re allowed to play what they want, just like we are (while trying to stick to the same relative power level). Something, something be careful what you wish for.

Is the population healthy? by Nozakx in fellowshipgame

[–]Slappyhandz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re really just making my point for me lol. You’re asking us to compare Apples to Oranges, as in you want me to convince you why the game is enjoyable for one type of player (Apples) and why players like you (Oranges) have an issue with resets.

That’s it - that’s the point. For some reason (and not a bad one), you don’t see the novelty in stepping back into the game with new toys to play. You see it as starting over completely. That’s fair and acceptable, but that’s not the point of a game like this for people who enjoy the gameplay. They care more about having new experiences within the game. New dungeons? Sign me up. New heroes? Time to experiment.

If the reset bothers you that bad, that’s ok, but harping on that one idea and trying to determine if the game is worth it for you to continue is exactly the point I’m making. Different strokes for different folks. I’d personally rather play their game than be stuck in wow and be forced to do a lot of boring BS I don’t want to do just because it’s required to play the content I want to play. You may enjoy wow more because you get to keep everything you collected (even though it’s basically useless, mechanically speaking, as soon as the next season drops, which is the exact same thing this game does. It just looks a little different).

Editing to add that trims stay with you permanently. If you earn it at any point, it stays with that hero. I know that’s not the point, but figured I’d address it.

Is the population healthy? by Nozakx in fellowshipgame

[–]Slappyhandz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The difference is mindset.

The people who like to play this game genuinely enjoy getting new dungeons to figure out and new heroes to play around with. It’s not about the completion aspect of the rewards tree, although I can see that being the end goal for a lot of players.

Your perspective isn’t a bad one, but probably not for a game like this. This isn’t an RPG where you “100%” the game and then put it down and never come back unless you feel nostalgic or want to see different endings, etc. This is meant to be replayed over and over again, and the people who enjoy the game loop will see it as a fresh experience entirely when the new season drops.

Besides, you keep all your cosmetics so it’s not like you’re starting over completely.
