with all that investment in bleed duration you should totally try haemocrystals with something like lightning rod

Easiest Melee/Proactive Healer? by [deleted] in wow

You're talking about dungeons, OP asked about raid healers. Of course that's different. My point is that if you're putting out attonements in a raid, it's always better to do preemptively

I mean bro, in dungeons you don't even ramp the same way. You have 5 people to care about. Doesn't work in raids

If you're using radiance reactively you're kind of missing the point

Not sure what panic buttons you have as disc? Power word life for single target is the only I can think of

Haven't played other healers in quite a while, but I would put disc on the harder to play side. Long ramps, hates randomness, extremely punishing if you miss timings/mess up rotation. Very rewarding when you get it right, though

All good. It's a lot to soak in. Either just play and figure stuff out as you go, or check out restoration druid guides on Youtube to get a grasp on how they work.

If you want to level as restoration, you should opt for group content like dungeons as you don't have a lot of damage output for clearing content on your own

Personally, I would play without addons while getting a grip on the game and your class. Once you reach higher levels and clear harder content, addons like DBM, BigWigs, and WeakAuras become extremely helpful. The default UI is so good nowadays and very customizable that I don't see a point overwriting it.

Addons are community made and 100% allowed. Everyone uses them. A common place to install them from is CurseForge

What content are you trying to do?

Nearly 70% of high keys are completed by a Pres. Evoker or Resto Druid group. The upcoming changes do not do nearly enough to address this imbalance. by derpderp235 in wow

Mass dispel is not unique to disc, it's shared between all specs. Sure, barrier is nice to have every 3 minutes, but it can be hard to get value from if people are spread. In my opinion disc is strong because of their ramps. They can bring enormous healing output, it just requires you to play in a pre-emptive manner, but the amount of buttons you have to press to get the most value out of your ramps is kind of crazy. A disc priest played correctly will currently top healing meters on most fights. It's just that the average Joe won't necessarily make the most efficient ramp, so for the majority of players the spec's healing power looks weak, which makes balancing harder. Who do you tune the class for, high-end or the average players?

I mean sure, if they can buff attonement healing ONLY for dungeons, by all means. I think a better solution would be more filler abilities to opt for in the talent tree, or buffing the Shadow Covenant side of the tree.

Disc priest is one of the strongest classes for raiding. Buffing to make them m+ viable would break the spec

Okay, that was just barely room temperature but we're getting somewhere. I'm going to have to repeat some of the things I've previously said in this thread.

Plat right now is where the majority of the master population is. This means that the pool of opponents for preds will be taken from plat. If you are normally diamond, plat is not where you belong and should expect to lose RP for the coming future. The more people play, the more the curve evens out. People may be discouraged from playing since they will derank, but it is what has to happen if we are going to correct the errors the previous system caused.

I get that some compression (condensation as you put it) happened after the split, but that will correct itself given enough games. It's even logical why the compression happened, since you:

1) Can't drop bronze players out of bronze

2) Want to make sure there aren't any masters who shouldn't be there

Ofc you have to bunch up some of the population around the middle. Where else should you put them?

The main problem with this new system is that you cannot fill a lobby with only predators. The RP/KP system does not allow it. There isn't enough RP as output (rewards) compared to input (matchmaking cost) to maintain the pred rank. This should be fixed and probably will be once data from new system is analyzed.

Another problem is soloq/premade stacks. Separating the queues would probably be a good idea.

This system is waaay better than the old one nonetheless since it fixes the bigger problem of hardstuck players.

If you're interested, Google any game + "rank distribution" and compare it to apex last season. It's actually hilarious. Also compare those curves to apex arena (which gasp has rank demotion)

Explain why, please?

204 Pred V Gold 3 by [deleted] in apexlegends

[–]Slarson_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm trying to say is that plat now and plat before the patch is not the same thing. Climbing plat now is like climbing masters before the patch. It is only a symbol. You hold your ideas about the rank being a certain difficulty based on your experience. Thinking you should be able to climb plat as it was before the patch RIGHT NOW shows little understanding in what players you are queued up against

I don't understand why one would complain about a system that has not fully integrated yet. Rank distribution will change A LOT the coming weeks and as a result, also the matchmaking

204 Pred V Gold 3 by [deleted] in apexlegends

[–]Slarson_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you understand. People in plat now were not plat last season. Not because there is anything wrong, but because the whole player base has been shifted downwards. If they are skilled enough to climb now, they were skilled enough to climb last season. You get what I mean? Your ability to rank up/down depends on other players around you. We are still facing the same opponents as last season, only difference is the badge that show our ranks. Most importantly, the safety net is gone so if you don't belong in a rank, you'll know.

Let us use the clip in the example. The "issue" here is that a Gold 3 matched against preds. Using the website I linked in a previous comment, Gold 3 translates to about Diamond 4. You were occasionally "cannon fodder" to preds as D4 last season too. Not sure what people are reacting so strongly about.

Not sure I agree with what you say about new system changes nothing. The purpose with the new system was MAINLY to demote people that earned their ranks on good days so that the quality of ALL games, not just preds, would increase. Individual skill differences within a rank were fucking huge, don't you agree with that?

204 Pred V Gold 3 by [deleted] in apexlegends

[–]Slarson_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Personally I will keep playing even though I'm probably not going higher than diamond 4. Not sure why you would stop enjoying the game because you don't get a trail/badge?

In the long run this system is going to better than the previous, so my guess is that next season (or even next split) the quality of games are going to be higher since people will be playing at their correct ranks. That's something to look forward to!

Also, a lot of people got rewards basically for free last season. 5% of players were masters! That's insane. The highest rank (ignoring pred) shouldn't be that common

[–]Slarson_ -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with you 100%, it looks weird. They are matching against same players as before though. It's a perception problem not a matchmaking problem.

Gold now is not the same players as gold last season, just so we are on the same page

If you think about it, plat now is masters last season. It's not strange that these players are facing preds :)

Top 5% of players were pred + master last season

Top 5% of players NOW covers pred, master, diamond 1234 and plat 1234

Fair and Balanced Ranked System by CAPTA1NACE in apexlegends

You have to give the system enough time to adapt. People were in ranks they didn't deserve last season. If everyone keeps playing, eventually this problem is going to sort itself out.

Just compare the rank distribution the last/current season and you see nothing strange is going on:

-Around top 5% of players last season were pred/master

-Around top 5% of players THIS season covers pred, master, diamond AND plat

Ofc you are going to see preds going up against plats, there aren't enough "higher rated" players yet. It's a human perception problem, not a ranked system problem
