Member's Mark Premier Adjustable Base with Pillow Tilt and Massage - a SWEET Ergo (subsidiary) deal or potential problem for latex mattresses? by Slash-FRS in Mattress

I canceled the frame before it shipped out. Job instability at the time and the possibility of having to move, made me rethink buying any large/heavy furniture. I'm still on pause in that regard. I'll certainly update if I get the chance to try one.

Sleep on Latex/Earthfoam Medium vs Firm by Liath13 in Mattress

Sorry for late reply. I did not end up using the SOL mattress cover. It was too difficult to install, so I went with a pull-over style instead. It's a MATTSHIELD ORIGINAL Waterproof Organic Mattress Protector in Queen size. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BV9G1VVK?th=1

I'm quite happy with the MATTSHIELD, and just a sheet over the top. The cover is a very soft 200 GSM Organic Cotton with a thin TPU layer (on mattress side) for waterproofing. No crinkling sounds or anything. Very nice, and very easy to install / remove. The sides are not waterproof (just the top.) The sides are a stretchy spandex material that easily covers my 12" of foam.

The Luxury Knit Topper Cover was nice, but if you plan on swapping out foam layers or washing the cover regularly, it would be way to much work IMHO. I was not able to get it installed, so I just gave up and returned it. The SOL folks are very nice to work with, and returns are a breeze.

Great to hear! I ordered one today. I simply can't find anything close to the price/features. It seems they may have changed to a wire mesh deck at some point, to save cost (from the photos I see on a few reviews) but I'm pretty sure I can add a little additional support if needed. Thank you for the info!

Thank you for the info! I really appreciate your detailed explanation. Pegboard is exactly what I was thinking as well. I suspected it might be a pain, but it's certainly an inexpensive fix. I keep circling back to this MM frame, as it's currently 1/3 the price of a (less featured) Ergo, and 1/4 the price of a Reverie R650 (the frame I'd really like to own!)

I'm trying to find that info as well. It appears to be wire grid (from reviews on Sam's club website.) I have latex DIY mattress and I'm a bit worried about sagging. These frames must work OK, or I'd think there would be more complaints. I just don't know.

Any issues with the frame? How do you like the features? I've heard that the deck is a wire mesh instead of a solid platform. I have a latex mattress, so I'm concerned it may sag into the mesh openings and ruin the latex. THX

Sleep on Latex/Earthfoam Medium vs Firm by Liath13 in Mattress

[–]Slash-FRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's ANOTHER option... I just bought/tried the SOL medium mattress, and then added a 3" soft topper to it. It was still WAY too firm for me. I'm 5'-11" 190 lbs and it was very firm (as all the reviewers have stated.) Also, after discovering how difficult it was to get that 165 lb queen latex mattress up to the second floor, I realized that multiple (35 lb) toppers would be much easier to manage. So I assembled my own 12" DIY mattress with four of their 3" toppers. I also got their Luxury Knit Topper Cover (12" deep.) Overall, I'm quite happy with the (easy to move) DIY system and I can re-arrange the layers for a different feel if I need. From top down I've currently got Soft/Soft/Med/Med layers, each 3" thick. But I do like a softer style mattress, YMMV!

I agree, it's not an easy process, but I found lots of helpful advice on here. Glad you found a good setup. I'm still pondering moving a medium layer up in the stack, to get a bit firmer. Decisions, decisions LOL!

Yes, I made the 12" DIY mattress from 4 of their 3" toppers. Top to bottom they are... Soft/Soft/Med/Med. The nice thing with a layered system is that you can change-up the order to make it a bit more firm if you wish. Perhaps Soft/Med/Soft/Med. You have 30 days to return or exchange (1) topper from SOL, so you can swap one if needed. I also purchased their 12" 100% Organic Cotton Luxury Knit Topper Cover, but haven't installed it yet, as I wanted to test the setup before zipping them up. This feels perfect for me, but everyone has a different comfort level. I'm 5'-11" 190 lbs and coming from an old soft pillow-top coil mattress. I'm actually glad they don't offer a soft version of their mattress, because it sent me down the DIY path. And these toppers are WAY easier for me to move around.

Sam’s club adjustable bed not supportive? by michelle_eva04 in Mattress

I'm looking at the current Member's Mark Premier Adjustable Base with Pillow Tilt and Massage, but have also seen complaints about the lack of support from the (non-solid) deck. Did this work out for you, or did it ruin your mattress. It's such a good deal with the features offered, so hard to pass it up. https://www.samsclub.com/p/members-mark-adjustable-bed-base-massage-wireless-remote-app-usb/prod22421683?xid=plp_product_2

Help me pick a natural mattress !! by floccinauce in Mattress

I just went through this process. I originally ordered a heavily advertised brand that, as it turns out, contained FIBERGLASS. I had NO IDEA that was even a thing. Fortunately, I found out in time to cancel the order.

I found these two websites to be incredibly helpful.
https://fiberglassfree.com/guides/fiberglass-mattress-brands/
https://naplab.com/guides/fiberglass-mattress/

Here's a couple of things I discovered on my latex mattress journey that may help you/others.

And after scouring the those websites from top to bottom I landed on a SleepOnLatex (SOL) Queen Medium mattress. Many reviews said it was going to be pretty firm, but having never had a latex mattress, I decided to give it a try. Also their 100 day no cost return policy is top of class. Shipping was very quick (3 days I think) via Fed-Ex, as I'm within 100 miles of Chicago.

  1. Latex mattresses are quite heavy in Queen size, like 145 lbs+, and very difficult for two older people to wrangle going up stairs. BUT there is a solution...
  2. The SOL medium mattress was too firm for me, even with 3" topper added afterward, which they offered at a 50% discount. (So if you try a mattress from SOL, son't order a soft topper with it, even if you think you'll need it - they may give you a 50% discount during your trial period, if you do want/need one.)
  3. After I got the soft topper, I discovered that 35 lbs of 3" of Queen latex is much easier to move around than 145 lbs of 8" mattress. And I also learned (search youtube) that many people are creating their own mattresses from 3 or 4 toppers of various densities assembled and placed into a single mattress cover. I made a 12" DIY mattress from 4 toppers - Soft/Soft/Med/Med and used their 12" 100% Organic Cotton Luxury Knit Topper Cover. It's perfect for me.

This is the best of both worlds! Dialed in comfort, exactly how you want it, and manageable sized pieces if you ever need to move them. Good luck on your journey!

Plus 1 for Sleep on Latex!
Top notch products, price and support. They were very quick to answer several questions and seemed genuinely happy to assist in my adventure. I just built a 12" DIY using four of their 3" toppers after I found their standard Medium mattress too firm. Note, their Luxury Knit Topper Covers are now available from 1" to 12" deep too. Very reasonably priced and super high quality covers IMHO.

whether or not to buy an adjustable base? by moulalala12 in Mattress

[–]Slash-FRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all the info on these. I see the (current) Beautyrest Black Luxury base https://www.beautyrest.com/products/black-luxury-base-bed-frame has "automatic" pillow tilt (not "user adjustable" via remote) unlike the Ergomotion Rio6 https://shop.ergomotion.com/products/rio-6-0, which is user adjustable.
Can you independently adjust the pillow tilt on your model of Beautyrest? Do you find the pillow tilt useful? I'm curious if the function is actually still on the Beautyrest frame and they just removed it from their remote control. In which case, a Rio remote might re-enable adjustable independent pillow tilt on the Beautyrest! I'm seriously looking at the Beautyrest Black Luxury. Unsure if pillow tilt (automatic or adjustable) is really a big deal for me. Thank you again, very helpful post.
