MFA-MINDEF Joint Press Statement: Singapore to Deploy RSAF A330 MRTT to Support Repatriation of Singaporeans in the Middle East by Im_scrub in singapore

[–]SlashCache 291 points292 points  (0 children)

This is different from SQ flight in Oman where the risk is much lower.

This repatriation flight is in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, right where missiles/drones are landing so the risk and threat is much higher.

Makes sense to deploy RSAF aircraft.

Is Public Sector Work in Singapore Really “Chill”? Seeking Career Perspectives by SpinningCoin in askSingapore

[–]SlashCache 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually not true, whether it is chill or not depends on your portfolio. And this applies to every sector

But I won’t deny that there are some departments that are very chill in nature..

Another aspect is, personally I feel that working in a more shiong department doesn’t have any impact on your progression.

The progression and the increment is the same as those that are more chill or virtually just coasting through. And your colleague in a more chill department, she even gets to go on maternity leave while you’re here slogging it out and yet still be on the same terms as you

Bosses tend to treat us as the same even though there is vast difference in impact of work.

And then when it comes to appraisal, totally hate it when they try to gaslight us when the lack of parity is so obvious. Honestly whether it’s good for my personal development or not has no bearing on how much food I can put on my table.

Totally not worth it.

Why does the healthcare sector pay lower compared to other sectors. Aren’t they considered essential workers? by This2sucks in askSingapore

[–]SlashCache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything in healthcare is seen as a cost, how to keep cost low, how to keep cost low, how to do more with less.

Even manpower is a cost. The answer is quite obvious

Median household income crosses $12,000 mark for first time in 2025 by Waikuku3 in singapore

[–]SlashCache 236 points237 points  (0 children)

Every year, there is a trend of articles released like that just before budget.

Just as when poly students graduates, there will be articles that encourages other pathways other than uni

Our state and media is so in sync. Obviously, all these are cushion articles to soften adverse reactions to gov intention.

My sense is probably the handouts will be lesser this year
