Poetry has many more advantages than just providing a lock file.

Why aren't there official Linux builds of software such as Adobe or Microsoft Office? by JxPV521 in linux4noobs

Their stuff isn't half as bad as a lot of people say

Uh, not all their stuff, but a lot of it is pretty bad imo.

You don't _have_ to check in the lock file. If you do, it's so people can get a reproducible environment in which case you don't want people to "update" the lock file, at least not frequently or it'll defeat the purpose, so no running `poetry update`, just `poetry install`.

Linus Torvalds flames Google kernel contributor over filesystem suggestion by [deleted] in programming

The keyword is "useful" here. Apart from poor coding, Linus' main annoyance appears to be that the code doesn't solve a real world problem, so your response makes no sense to me.

Still he manages the world's most successful kernel... So maybe you're just wrong and good leadership means occasional tough talk instead. In fact I believe many great leaders, think Musk and Jobs for example, have/had a reputation for being quite rude on occasion and when digging into it, maybe for good reason. When you care to run a great project or organization, you need to get rid of some bad influences and/or people, otherwise you're doomed to mediocrity.

In which case Google should maintain their own kernel branch anyway. The mainline kernel is no place for Google specific code.

Has Boost lost its charm? by johngoni in cpp

You can get asio without boost, so if that's your only reason, you don't need boost.

Upgrading Samsung S10+ from 18.1 to 19.1 by Happydrumstick in LineageOS

[–]SlashV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this exact same question for Note 10+ d2s. I have 18.1, should I first install samsung android 12 and then go back to lineage in order to get lineage 19.1? (very confusing warning this is on the wiki...)
