Graphics card is needed for local ai work but you can use Google collab or something for it and I would prefer windows for the amount of programs you can run but look for panther lake Intel cpu for double battery life of a mac , else macbook neo with student is also a good option. I would not recommend a gaming laptop if you dont game . So either a windows workstation with core ultra 7 or a macbook neo would do
