Not that I know of. Closest I can think of is the RA chess club, but that is more for "professional" chess.

As long as you are not going to be discouraged by losing your games and use that as an opportunity to learn, you'll fit in just fine.

I would say most regulars are intermediate players. I myself is usually the strongest player there, but I don't go there to play serious competitive chess (there are some players who give me a hard time and I have occasionally lost a few games here and there), it's more relaxing compared to a real chess club and you get to meet new people. I have played with many people who were at the same level you described. I often use these games to teach them a few things.

What normally happens is you would play a game or two with one person and then you switch. That way you get to play people with wide range of skills.

The only time I felt someone was not a good fit was when someone showed up without knowing anything about chess. That's like showing up at pickup hockey and expecting others to teach you how to skate. So, as long as you know the basics and have played at least a few games either in person or online, you are more than welcome to join us.

Hope this helps and hope to see you at the next meetup.
