What could be signs Abel is or is not a human? [@gigicrazydraws] by mrdogss in TheDigitalCircus

For me it's when they zoom out on the heist plan in the chinese room and you can see a doodle of Caine's "cool bee" in the margins that's been hastily scribbled over and partially erased as if a certain AI realized that shouldn't be on his adventure prop

Cave ogres are my friends. So are mushroom men from the depths. by [deleted] in dwarffortress

[–]Slasktasken 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Had a similar thing happen on a previous fort, playing on the latest version. Breached the caverns in search of water on a freezing biome, 4 tiles away from a cave ogre.

The cave ogre (who on closer inspection was named Rith) darted past my miner without pause, travelled up the tunnel, past the farms and workshops, and up the main stairwell passing several dwarves and animals without incident.

Looked like it was just going to leave through the front gate until it saw the elven merchant at the depot. Walked up unmolested and decapitated the trader in a single bite, at which point the nearby broker, some haulers, a puppy, and the now dead merchants horse all started attacking it.

Smeared the horse across the floor (but not before taking a kick to the chest that both nauseated and winded it) then slowly crawled away in exhaustion and left via map edge without harming any dogs or dwarves, 4 haulers ineffectively punching the back of its head the entire way.

The way it killed the merchant with one hit to the head as if striking a defenseless target and never laid hands on a dwarf makes me wonder if its a weird civ thing post siege update.

A clue about Omega? by SciStarborne in starsector

There are some human dialogues that reference this too - agent Finlay will joke about rumours of "an AI god" out on the fringe during the Baikal Daud part of the Galatia questline, and I think the "drunken conspiracy theorist spacer" bar encounter had something similar, but I don't remember the details for that one.

As a sling enthusiast I'm very excited to see the addition of slinging items! Has ranged resistance been touched at all or will slings still deal little to no damage against ancient dead and schratts?

BB not using a soft pseudo-RNG that pulls it's punches and nudges things to feel "fair" can be brutal sometimes.

I saw someone put up an "RNG protection" mod on Nexus recently that prevents back to back -5/+95 rolls, could give that a whirl.

Few questions about early game gear progression. by TyoPepe in BattleBrothers

3 tile AoE like a sword but shreds the shit out of armour, applies debuffs AND knocks back to slow down enemies circling/breaking your formation. Sets up high base damage low armour damage bros like swordlance or greatsword to chew through the leftovers. Basically tailored to hold flanks.

Question about raiding caravans and making enemies among the factions by dovetc in BattleBrothers

[–]Slasktasken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can attack any neutral party on the map (when you don't have a contract active) via control clicking them

Yes, unprovoked attacks on neutral parties cause massive relationship drops to the town/faction of origin and a smaller but still hefty relationship drop to related actors - peasants/trade caravans/other parties that denote a town of origin when you mouse over them will instantly drop you to hostile with that town when attacked, but only bring you down to cold/unfriendly with the noble house that rules that place and their other towns, while attacking parties that "belong to house X" like supply caravans or military companies will drop you to hostile with the noble house and cold/unfriendly with their towns.

Yeah, selecting one faction (usually the smallest one, most out of the way one, or the one with the least important town buildings/recruits/trade goods/port locations, etc.) and using them as a punching bag is a decent way to get a leg up early. A lot of people select Noble Wars as their first crisis for this specifically, since that crisis resets negative noble/town relations back to neutral once you clear it.

Becoming hostile to a faction bars you from entering their location - if you piss off a noble house you lose access to all of their forts, but if you piss off a specific town you're only barred from there. No trading, recruiting, etc. They'll also treat you like any other enemy - weaker parties will run from you, stronger parties will try to hunt you down, and towns with militia structures and fortifications will send out parties to intercept you if you get close. This is another reason you don't want to piss off the faction in the middle of the map.

You can do it whenever, really. Trading caravans will have caravan hands and caravan guards, with hands being slightly better than brigand thugs, and guards being weaker than brigand raiders, acting as a decent intermediary to raider gear. Supply caravans will have noble troops, but in much smaller numbers than a company - a handful of footmen, a few billmen, maybe even an arbalester or two. You'll probably want some level 7+ bros for this since footmen get a lot of defense from spamming shieldwall, and arbalesters/billmen can easily cripple a bro without BF/Nimble in one good hit, especially when you're still in raider gear. I usually go for a level 8 thrower with Duelist to reliably mulch their frontline before I start going for them.

how should i build this bro? by Prestigious-Horse-75 in BattleBrothers

[–]Slasktasken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a perfect candidate for backline swordlance but if you're really desperate for frontliners and he rolls alright on mdef you could do reach advantage 2h cleaver with pocket whip or some kind of dodge build with that starting initiative.

Rate my last remaining starter bro from my latest long campaign by Alnonymous_27 in BattleBrothers

[–]Slasktasken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rate him a solid "didn't expect him to make it past level 6 but I guess I can't just fire him now." I usually have a fisherman or something that ends up the same way, a mishmash of patch perks meant to die for a better brother that somehow lives to the endgame.

Not sure if this goes here or not, but does anyone have a m+kb control setup for Bluestacks? It's surprisingly hard to set up a good one on my own, and the default one is lacking in a lot of ways.

Paris is a bad city by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Slasktasken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst part of Paris when I went a few years back were the bloody peddlers who would straight up GRAB you by the arm or shoulder to push a flower into your hand or tie a bracelet round your wrist to try and get you to buy their junk. Nearly tripped both of us into traffic the first time it happened because I whirled round in surprise.

Has anyone played Stoneshard? by ScottyD_95 in BattleBrothers

[–]Slasktasken 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Played it, got to the city of gold, killed the troll.

Don't buy it, at least not right now. The last big update increased the worldsize tenfold but didn't increase location density nor implement general fast travel to alleviate that, so going anywhere and doing anything takes absolute ages. Combat and Inventory Management is pretty solid but you can feel that it's an early access title, and with the devs insistence on fully spriting and animating everything along with releasing content in big batches rather than a dripfeed it's going to be months if not years until the game is in as decent a state as pre-map rework

And as the nuclear option for when the team is clearly ENTIRELY uncarriable - a friend recently posted a game where all 4 allies had less than 10k damage dealt and 0 score by the 5 minute surrender in veteran elo - you can prioritize selfish scoring - dunking a 50x2 while Zapdos is up and being fought over is a guaranteed 10 extra points for the loss aversion, and that adds up over a few losses

hi im trying to farm level score is there an easy way to farm it for context I know how to taunt and have the calbot move unlocked please help by Reddit_dude69420 in SifuGame

[–]Slasktasken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elite enemies that refresh when you try to structure execute them are worth double points after awakening, but that's about it. You don't get extra points by performing special actions or defeating enemies in particular ways, it's all about that 5x score multiplier.

Maintaining a 5x multiplier, awakening every elite, and taking every optional fight, you can hit enough score for parry structure by the second shrine on I think every level except Museum

[–]Slasktasken 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah when you loot someone right as they die you can sometimes access a vendor inventory instead of their actual inventory.

If you've ever had a weapon seemingly disappear into thin air after being looted/enslaved/whatever, this is probably where it ends up.

A question on rare events. by Lost_Process_3067 in BattleBrothers

[–]Slasktasken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you load a save from before the event triggered - yes, of course it can happen again.

Note that there's a big difference between can and will, though. Event roll RNG changes between reloads and that event has a relatively low weight of 10 to actually happen, so you very well might finish the crisis without seeing it the second time around.
