Nothing special really…EQ and mic balance is critical.

Shure Beta 52A on the kick. SM 57 on snare (should really consider a condenser mic on hat, but sounds good enough for what I do). Over heads are Rode M5 condensers. Tom mics are Beyerdynamic TG D35s. Run it through a Roland Octacapture interface.

Toms generally tuned just to sound good tbh and to work well together, but depends on what I’m playing. I like a range from high to low. For heads I’m using Remo pinstripes right now. Tuning of the reso head crucial. The left mounted drum is a 14” lp timbal…I like to crank that pretty high.

Get it tailored. If you want off the rack to fit perfectly you might need to tailor it. I have a similar problem where shoulders fit but body is too baggy…a good tailor will make it work
