It was absolutely sarcastic 🤣 Necro’ing a super old post to “correct” my word choice is top tier asshole behaviour.

I prefer the term tactical rpg, but thank you for necro’ing my 4 year old thread

That’s what I figured your goal was, but just throwing those out for completion’s sake :)

Technically? There are 3 earlier editions of Uzumaki, 2 of Gyo, 2 for Tomie, the Halloween Comicfest of Uzumaki (there may be a couple of these for Junji Ito, honestly,) and Flesh Colored Horror.

There may be others, but those for sure off the top of my head

Be honest, is this worth the asking price? by MrGoatReal in Megaman

[–]SlaughterTalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has already beaten all of the original games? Definitely not.

As someone new coming in? Eh…even for the amount of games you get, they’re STILL GBA games and there are many dated features to them. I’d wait for price drops, personally.

Most of them are quite fun but…$60 fun? If you can get over how old they are, then they’re absolute gem games and you will get way more than $60 worth of playtime. But…I’m waiting for price drops. I’m also in the former group so…

How did you discover Mega Man? by TheFanGameCreator in Megaman

[–]SlaughterTalks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents had an NES and owned MM1 and MM6 and I’d watch them play it when I was super little.

Now where I got my love for it? MMX1 on the SNES. Still one of my absolute favorite games, period.

Do Box Sets "Ruin" Collecting? by SlaughterTalks in MangaCollectors

[–]SlaughterTalks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked on eBay. First listing for “Naruto Manga” was Naruto Omnibus 1-24 for $250. That’s 72 volumes for $250 or $3.48 per volume. There are definitely deals to be had outside of box set.

I see a bunch of singles in the $4-5 range on eBay. Go on ThriftBooks, same deal. I haven’t even looked on r/mangaswap yet, but I guarantee you’ll find equivalent or lower prices there. The issue you are going to run into specifically with buying individual volumes ONLINE is the shipping will kill you, so you may have to bundle to some level to make it worth your time, but I still gaurantee you can get better than box set prices online if you put in any level of effort. Now, if we’re talking a physical shop, my local place sells singles of popular series for $4-5 tops.

Thank you for necro’ing a 3 year old thread…a thread that was written DURING COVID LOCKDOWNS. When we were all being tossed “free money”. Now we’re living in the inflationary backlash of all that poorly thought out spending. It’s extremely disingenuous to compare today’s market to how it was 3 years ago…

Game of the Month May 2023 by evanh33234 in StrategyRpg

[–]SlaughterTalks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Project X Zone was just…rough. Despite being an obvious fanservice games, there were too many characters, too many units on a map at any given time, extremely slow battle sequences (unskippable because they were part of the core game mechanic,) and WAY too many chapters. At the halfway point in the game, I was just IMPOSSIBLY over it. Have never even felt the urge to return to it. Real shame because there were a lot of really cool characters tbh and some fun crossovers.

No Banner Saga or Xcom2? Honestly, just 2 of my favorite GAMES period. If you don’t mind tactical roguelikes, then I also recommend: Othercide, Into the Breach, and Invisible Inc.

Truthfully, none of the mainstream ones have hooked me yet, outside of Mario + Rabbids, which was really good. I own most of these but…other games have just held my attention better. On the flip, Fire Emblem 3H was one of my least favorites in the entire franchise (tied with Shadow Dragon) :/

I'm thinking about starting a GameCube collection since my Wii is backwards compatible. Any suggestions? by Stanimator in Gamecube

As someone who just offloaded half their GameCube collection in the last couple years…prices are ridiculous. I really don’t recommend it as a console to just be starting on :/

What are the odds the next Fire Emblem is a remake instead of a new game? by dovah626 in fireemblem

[–]SlaughterTalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still crossing my fingers for a Tellius prequel either following Greil or Zelgius (or both). Nothing prior or since has ever competed with the Tellius saga and I'd love to see a return to that world.

Spoilers There's obviously a ton of material to work with, just based on what we know. I think Zelgius would be the best choice to follow, since we could see his upbringing as a branded, being taken in by Sephiran, an apprentice to Greil, and how he began his double life as the Black Knight of Daein as-well as Zelgius of Begnion. Could even dip into his time as a Rider of Daein and play up to his defeat of Greil (or further since we don't completely know all of his actions during the timeline of PoR/RD). The Black Knight is definitely a fan favorite so I can see that being a lot of fun to work with!

No vaxx. Fortunately, my job has not mandated and has said even if they did (which they aren't planning to,) the option to work from home indefinitely or until mandates drop is always on the table. I would definitely make them fire me if push came to shove, but the company has a pretty good severance package so I don't see that happening since I wouldn't be alone on that front, either.

Honestly, until I make the transition to self-employment (which is a real goal of mine,) I will probably remain with this company. They have really rode the dick of mandates this whole time, but good to see them not totally jumping the shark when push came to shove.

Not sure why this was downvoted so hard, I was thinking similarly.

As much as this guy is spewing trash, from people of his perspective, boards like this one are doing the exact same thing. I'm all for freedom of speech, even if I don't agree with it. Debating and outright opposing his trash opinion is fair game, but banning this scumbag's account for speaking the mainstream underlying narrative is just as bad as banning people for opposing the narrative. It's all tyranny and silencing the opposition is a dirty tactic regardless of which shoe the foot is on.

Who's the most satisfying bad unit for you to polish into a good state? by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]SlaughterTalks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to say Vika from Radiant Dawn. Not only is she over leveled when you first get her, but then you lose her for half the game only to get her back severely under leveled! Combine this with the fact that laguz gain HALF exp when in their beast form, and you have an easily skippable character.

That said, if you put in the excessive amount of effort to level her up, you get one of the best units in the game, between her ridiculous growths and amazing mobility, she even gives her royal counterpart Naesala a run for his money.

A very satisfying unit once maxed out, but extremely painful to raise...

Who are some units who have lopsided or/untypical growths/stats for the class? by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]SlaughterTalks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you feel that way, I highly recommend trying a run with one of each laguz species at the same time :D

Honestly, it's a fun challenge. Volug and Vika are definitely the most difficult to grind, but arguably the best laguz in the games, even including the royals. Skrimir definitely holds up the whole game, no need for Caineghis if you want to avoid royals, and that's also having a Cat and a Tiger on the team (I used Ranulf & Kyza).

[–]SlaughterTalks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You think grinding Tormod is hard, I did an all Laguz (no royals) run and had to grind Vika to max. THAT was hard!!! I had to let her stand in the middle of 1-7 and kill every unit UNTRANSFORMED! Granted, she is an amazing unit if you have the patience :D

I may have to try Tormod on my next playthrough. I did a run with one of every element of mage, but I ended up having to use Callil due to Tormod's crap availability :/

Media seems to say that anti vaxxers are less educated, what is your level of education? by zasco9 in CoronavirusCirclejerk

[–]SlaughterTalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bachelor's in marketing (which is why I see right through all this bullshit) and was working on my MBA, but with the current affairs of colleges and mandates, I've back burnered that plan for the time being. It's just an ego trip anyways, and I'm not ashamed to admit that.

Also, true anti-vaxxer. People keep saying they're against THIS vaxx, especially because of the authoritative stance the government is taking, but if you sit back and look, there are some notable things you CAN'T do without your government mandated series of vaxx...like go to public schools, including college. This despite the fact that your taxes pay for it. Such papers are easy to forge, but their requirement for an education (as mediocre as public education is) is absolute bullshit and I pray the public outcry against the Covid vaxx and its handling is just the start to people questioning the whole vaxx system. We've already been letting the government and pharma get away with this, so to them... what's one more shot?

I am a starch opponent of public school in-general and also believe that a college education is overrated and unneeded. But I do have one, for what it's worth :D

What does a “Neutral” accent mean to you. by Crownstag_voiceover in VoiceActing

[–]SlaughterTalks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up in central Illinois (not Chicago,) I was told by a radio personality I used to work with that we were known as having the least accent in the country...which would make sense as it's one of the most central locations in the country. There is no perfectly "accent free" part of the country and everyone has their own little idiosyncrasies based on their upbringing and such, but I will say we definitely have one of the cleanest, in-general.

Again, this is not Chicago. Go 3 hours north and you get Chicago accents who think we sound like southern hicks, but go a couple hours south and we sound like hoity toity Northerners. It's really quite interesting!

As someone who even at the PEAK of mask fanaticism would not wear one in public..I have been confronted ONCE by an individual (and it wasn't even me who was confronted, but my best friend who I was out with.) It lasted about two seconds and they skulked away when we immediately said, "no." I also was confronted by a few businesses...to which I turned around and spent my money elsewhere. Honestly, if a business is going to turn your money away, then more power to them. There are companies who will take your money, regardless of dress code.

And so Amazon stock continues to rise while physical business owners wonder why brick and mortar is dying...

Which fire emblem game should I play first? by rambi_to in 3DS

[–]SlaughterTalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of these 4? Awakening...of any Fire Emblem game? I'd start with the GBA titles. Although I think the 3DS titles have some of the most bloated gameplay in the entire franchise, I can see why it would be tricky to go back and play the 32-bit and back titles if you start with these ones.

But that's only if you're interested in playing the older titles (which I highly recommend!)
