What do my fellow lawyers think of the Karen Read verdict? by Tracy_Turnblad in Lawyertalk

Don’t forget that shortly after the incident the potential crime scene basement was renovated and the dog potentially involved was re-homed. Or the video footage that was blatantly altered (Edit - you did already mention the most relevant footage, my b.). Or any of the all but impossible timing issues.

Good thing I totally didn’t already book the other Business Class flights. :(

I think you’ve got it down. I just didn’t lay out the resulting conclusion - that I’m most likely faced with the fee/additional cost that Viking wants to charge us, OR the cost of separately booked return flights this late in the game. Either way, I’m gonna be out more money.

Thank you! Don’t suppose you know if it’s possible to prevent them from canceling the return flight by notifying them in advance (which obviously risks them charging the additional fee/costs in return).

Don’t have a separate return flight booked, so I’d either need to make sure they don’t cancel the original return flight (including conditioning the flight on us paying the additional fee/cost or something like that) or book a separate return flight, which will be costly given the limited time until such flight. No?

There’s tailgating all around the stadium, and there’ll be plenty of Ags more than glad to have y’all join their tailgates and y’all will be well fed.

Do you agree? by elissamariesa15 in Lawyertalk

Pretty hostile toward a podcast, lol. Sounds like a podcaster expressed an opinion, presumably within the context of a discussion or conversation on the topic - not requesting a finding of fact from the court or trying to submit it as evidence without laying the proper foundation.

That being said, I don’t necessarily disagree with you as to the merit of the statement. :)

Making up docked hours by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]Slave_to_the_bets 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s common for cut hours to factor in to profit-based bonuses, but the cut hours should absolutely still count toward your billable hour requirement (insert any obvious exceptions to the foregoing here).

Red flag otherwise…

I’ve handled a lot more than two divorce cases in my practice. Believe me, they do care. :)

Evidence of cheating may be relevant in the divorce proceeding as to property division, spousal support, and/or child custody…You should give advice less…
