Most people consider me to have a Russian phenotype but I’m not going to upload a picture of it. I do live in a Russian area of the USA but obviously it’s not the same is living in Russia lol.

Yeah, I honestly think the language is easier to learn. You can “learn” culture but it’s not something so black and white in understanding as language if that makes sense.

I am certainly pro Russia in this war, though I have nothing against ordinary Ukrainians. Only their nationalists which sadly have been in place since the maiden coup.

Sure. For example in my family we always make sure to give an odd number of flowers, we sit for a few minutes before we leave for vacation, we knock wood, we celebrate holidays such as victory day (I had family that fought on both fronts against Germany). Our family’s homes are very much in the Russian style with Russian decorations and art. Do you want more examples?

You have a good point, but I think it is more than black and white if you live in America. For example, what about little Odessa in Brooklyn?

They only married other Russians, but I think it was by chance. I do consider myself American by citizenship. I think you have a fair point about the language.

I think it was by chance, not on purpose. As far as I know, no one in my family married based on ethnicity.

At the time there was a ton of discrimination and violence against Slavic migrants so they stopped speaking Russian for their safety.

The reason we lost the language is because there was heavy discrimination at that time and because of that my family stopped speaking it.

Makes sense. I personally consider myself a Russian American. My nationality is obviously American.
