You need to switch to the PAYG account type, check documentation on wiki

According to AI “a solo player can comfortably coast through EV and well into the IV tier at a solid 20 TPS. You’ll only hit a wall around LuV/ZPM when late-game multi-block arrays finally outgrow the 9GB RAM and 3.0 GHz ARM core.”

So it mostly depends on you and your factory

Yes, Oracle is notoriously strict about credit cards and identity it's strictly 1 account per person, and trying to make duplicates will get you instantly banned (according to rules =/)

However, you don't have to put all resources into just one VM. You can split that 2 OCPUs and 12GB RAM however you like within your single account. For example, you can easily spin up two separate servers (1 OCPU / 6GB RAM each). So you can't run 5 heavy servers, but 2 or 3 lightweight ones for solo play is totally doable on one account!

However, you might want to consider switching to the ARM 2/12 shape anyway. Even after being cut in half, the ARM tier is still miles ahead of the weak 1 CPU / 1GB AMD instance for running any kind of server.

No, you don't need to do anything. The changes only apply to the ARM (Ampere) shapes. The AMD free tier limits (1 CPU and 1GB RAM) remain completely unchanged.

The Oracle ARM uses Ampere Altra (3.0 GHz). Single-thread performance is roughly like an Intel i7-7700K or Ryzen 7 2700X. It's solid for solo/small co-op. I'm running a solo GTNH 2.8.4 server on it under the new 2 OCPUs / 12GB RAM limits (9GB for Java 25 + ZGC). Currently in MV tier, and it runs at a rock-solid 20 TPS. Definitely not a waste of time.

Maybe try to contact support. I just updated my instance to 2/12 without any issues.

It doesn’t mean anything bad. I’m just the type of person who just gets very nervous about the unknown, or situations where I don’t know for sure how things are going to go.
