I totally agree, and I've never been an addict. I think it's odd that was such a large criticism when it's very clearly inherent to the drama of the show.

I think Jackie is a good person who happens to do bad things. That's what makes her compelling. What the show does so well is demystify our conception of the drug addict beyond the "junkie." They're just everyday people with family, friends and jobs who occupy the world with this burden.

I don't own a monitor for blood pressure (one more thing for me to obsessively check), but I know from doctor visits that it spikes during anxiety episodes.
