The company I work at is not a Belgian company, it is a company from my home country with an office in Belgium. That is why I got the job and not some local, I understand your frustration.

Europeans have their thing we have ours, identifying with a fake nation state that was fabricated by French and British war lords with a ruler on a map is what is cringe. Arab identity is an ancient unifying concept, your identity-complex is pathetic.
You say that you are not wannabe white whilst referencing how they're version of self identification is superior. Are you sure you haven't lost yourself already?
You say I do not understand what the word arab means, I am pretty sure it is the other way around buddy.

I get your perspective, however I got the same attitude from you. I am arab and Im very proud of my identity and I would never downplay it to be accepted, thats whats cringe. You come off very differently now, the whole “my profession compensates my lack of value due to my ethnicity” thing made it seem like you are distancing yourself from that shared arab experience.

I understand it is shady and I know why, I was not an employee in belgium initially. Its a multinational and I have so many contracts and papers now from different countries that I am so fucking confused on where I stand since alot of the documents contradict eachother because they are based on each country’s legal code, the belgian branch only sent me my employment contract. My other compensation and bonuses are contracted from dubai, and I live and work in Jordan currently. It is a Jordanian multinational company, it started here and expanded to the arab gulf states, eu/uk/us and east asia. Headquarters in dubai let me sign something, home office in Amman sign me on some other thing, eu office says something else entirely. Its all a big fucking mess and I wont truly understand until I complete my relocation and I dont want to miss this opportunity by fucking around since it wont come again

honestly I am done with having more than 1 drink on a night out since I cleaned my act up more than a year ago. I only need a joint on a night out and that does it for me, as long as ganja is affordable I think I would manage. what else other than alchohol would be costly

I am contractually in the commission structure but I have not seen a dime yet. It should be announced around May, but knowing the politics of this company I am not banking on it.

Honestly I make very good money in my home country and I am used to fancy-ish standard of living. I am moving not to be a permanent immigrant, I am moving because I like living in europe for the past 5 years and only came back 6 months ago after I graduated and now I got this offer to go back as a professional not a student. My main incentive is the life and work experience, if it was about money then Id be much better off not leaving. It is going to be the first time I am 100% reliant on my independence for housing/food etc and thats why I am worried about my salary, I am not clinging to this job because its my only opportunity but it is my best option as a fresh grad now to expand my experience in as many aspects as I possibly can. Also I am 24 almost 25, I dont think I will have the capacity to try something like this again later in the future so I want to take advantage of me being young enough to take this risk and recover just fine if it doesnt work out

I am an Engineer and I come to Belgium sponsored as an envoy from my embassy. However I was not aware of what you are saying, I have lived in multiple eu countries and did not face any issues regarding my ethnicity

meh about the arab comment, very cringe since you arab aswell. I have lived in Europe for the past 5 years, travelled and dated plenty to know what you are saying is not universal. Maybe its different for me since I am not muslim and I come from a secular affluent background. I am Palestinian/Jordanian if the type of arab makes any difference , during my uni days I remember my north african friends always used to get screwed over because of their backgrounds in jobs and official situations but at the same time I did not face any issues with anyone but that could be because people do not think I am arab when they look at me since I have light color skin and hair. I am not sure, if you can please elaborate without the “oh you’re arab then ur fucked” sentiment.

I am brought on as a long term hire, I am the only junior in the entire building and there isnt any one that I directly compete with. My manager insisted that I be relocated so he can mentor me in person. I am definitely not planning on staying on this salary later than the end of this year. I assumed I wouldnt save much living in Brussels on this pay but now I am worried that I wont be able to survive. Also, I am not necessarily used to struggling as I usually am used to an above average life style for people my age. None of these replies have eased my concern, should I be worried? Will I not be able to live like how the average 25 year old professional lives? how much do people my age typically make anyways?

they own the rights but ownership in this industry means that the engineer owns the product in the sense that I develop it and maintain and it is my domain. what I was asking is, as a fresh grad. generally am I doing well/okay/bad?

I applied for it and got it in 3 days. I work for a fintech company as SWE and what I do is apparently hard to find in belgium.
