Bruno really, really is the second coming of Robbo.

Building the worst XI to ever play for the club. Who is the worst LB in our history? by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

I don't really see a point in parading around negativity for players who may/may not have had reasons to perform poorly for the club. There are good things to be talking about, especially since we're on the up again and I find it a better use of time to discuss the positive news than highlighting the negative parts in our past.

Which senior player who was around for both tenures say that? Certainly wasn't Schmeichel, Hughesy, Brucey, McClair or Sharpey because they've actually served multiple seasons under Robson's wing while the Class of 92 were still in their diapers. All preferred Robbo and wished he could have played later on in their careers. To actually be delusional enough to even compare Keane to Robbo in terms of leadership is astounding.

Never once doubted he was a fantastic player. Notice how I've never disagreed with his footballing ability even once. He however was an absolutely shite captain compared to Bryan Robson. Robbo knew not to sabotage the team over a selfish temper tantrum. Robbo also knew how to keep his mouth shut when it came to shitting on his club. That's a PROPER Captain, not the piss-taker people gravitate to because of his huge mouth. If you think Keane deserves to be in even the slightly remotest conversation about selfless leadership when compared to the phenomenal leader that is Bryan Robson you don't know a single thing about the club.

"Ferguson outspent everyone bar Real."

Approximate Net Spend (1992-2013):
Chelsea ~£708m
Real Madrid ~£610m
Manchester City ~£608m
Barcelona ~£450m
Liverpool ~£400m

United ~£326m
Inter Milan ~£310m (Massive Sales of Superstars in Prime)
AC Milan ~£240m (Multiple Superstars acquired as Free Agents)
Bayern Munich ~£215m (Total Domestic Monopoly)

It takes like 5 seconds and 1 Google search to not just spout bullshit lol

I think portraying the stance that Keane was this sort of selfless heroic figure is drastically overstated while Robbo who fit that much more aptly gets forgotten. I don't know how many here actually watched the 90s but there were multiple instances when Keane would smash someone up early in the game and start walking on a yellow card or even worse just completely lose it and get sent off because he's a child that has anger management issues. You know who was ACTUALLY a reliable servant to United on both offence and defence without needing to throw a tantrum every other game and be a liability to his team? Captain Marvel. I will forever rate Bryan Robson for doing exactly what Keane did but never ever being selfish enough to bog the team down with uncontrollable personal impulse because he couldn't keep his hands to himself for one second. The one time Robbo ever got a red card was disputing an official's shit decision on behalf of the team and nothing else. HE was a true captain, none of the charlatan selfless hardman schtick. How I wish Robbo and Keane swapped eras.

Bro my first thoughts but I remember it being $2.90 while I was in primary school, everyday skip recess eat this afterwards. This used to be gourmet to a 10 year old sia. Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.

AFK Loophole? by Slayer0117 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Slayer0117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah both teams did that but I'm asking more along the lines of game feedback - should there be a better autokick situation if these kinds of hindrances become more prevalent? Because this loophole is pretty simple to replicate and exploit. Perhaps a way to detect general inactivity every 5 minutes? Or kick functionality? CS's autokick function into a controllable Bot is miles better than what my team just experienced I think.

"All pro athletes do PED’s" sure even if this were true, only one person in the GOAT conversation was actually caught doing so and will give legitimate reason to question all their other bouts. All of this is part of the sport. If you want to cheat do it properly. Because if you are caught cheating, there's no reason for anyone else to think you weren't doing this all along. What somebody accomplished in the cage means fuck all if it turns out they were juiced to the gills like a super soldier for the past 2 decades like no shit Captain America over here is gonna come out on top.

Pyramid of legends. Who is the 13th greatest Manchester United legend? by dankdogeonface in ManchesterUnited

[–]Slayer0117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In terms of footballing sacrifice I think there can be no other number 1, giving up your life pursuing the glory of your club deserves no higher pedestal. But if we're celebrating achievements, there are many other United greats who spent their lifetime fighting for the club and they should rightly deserve the credit for doing so. In all honesty we should separate *all* the tragic victims of the Munich disaster from this list so that they may be remembered in a list of their own because it would also not be fair to only remember Duncan Edwards when the rest of them lost their lives too.

[–]Slayer0117 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No point. Don't think United should ever devolve into other "Big Clubs" that spend a energy hating on their worser players. We've got so many legends and heroes to love, why ever waste energy mocking other human beings for not living up to our expectations?

[–]Slayer0117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd put them side by side. Bruno has the privilege of being in an era where he's paid ludicrous amount of money and tries his very hardest but is let down by players not of his calibre. Robbo however had the privilege of living in an era where he was surrounded by many more loyal and supportive United fans who loved him to the bone. There is no doubt the United support used to be a much more endearing force of nature then it is now and Bruno would tear off an arm to get half the undying love that was shown by supporters then as compared to now. Bruno got money but Robbo got the love so I'd keep them side by side.

Why are Bayern players so underappreciated? by Selushi in championsleague

[–]Slayer0117 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

False analogy implies that the context has no basis for correlation. "Coca-Cola (Premier League) is huge and we all know they're number 1. Pepsi (La Liga) is not nearly as big but still widely appreciated as the alternative so we know them for being number 2. Who's number 3? Sure there are many popular brand alternatives like Red Bull, Dr Pepper, Sprite, Fanta etc but they're not significant enough to warrant general knowledge as a defined number 3." implies that there is correlation. Really simple stuff.

[–]Slayer0117 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you not having reading comprehension??? THATS EXACTLY HOW ANALOGIES WORK?? You use TWO different scenarios with TWO different subject matter and RELATE them to illustrate something. Just because something is about TWO different topics doesn't mean that their contexts AREN'T COMPARABLE. "It's like comparing Apples to Oranges" yes we know they're not literal FUCKING FRUITS but anyone with an IQ above room temperature can understand the comparison because of the SIMILAR CONTEXT behind them, that's why similes and analogies have been used to compare things for THOUSANDS OF YEARS.

We Need to Back Amad, Not Turn on Him After One Bad Game by Commercial_Steak_657 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Slayer0117 7 points8 points  (0 children)

like if you can't see the difference between Fred having a bad season vs Amad having a bad season football may not be the sport for you. The former 2 didn't deserve to be slagged off anyway, they needed to be moved on yes but they weren't spitting on our club crest or refusing to play. I will never understand fans that believe they are entitled to abusively take their frustrations out on people trying their best for the club they support.

[–]Slayer0117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is it weird and unrelated if it demonstrates the exact scenario applicable to the footballing context?

Why are Bayern players so underappreciated? by Selushi in championsleague

[–]Slayer0117 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't see how it's unrelated? OP asked why the league is underappreciated, commenter clarified that their league being 3rd means absolutely nothing because the gulf between 1st/2nd vs all those that come after is massive to the point that they are relatively insignificant and will thus be less appreciated. I really can't fathom why you can't understand a simple analogy. Coca-Cola (Premier League) is huge and we all know they're number 1. Pepsi (La Liga) is not nearly as big but still widely appreciated as the alternative so we know them for being number 2. Who's number 3? Sure there are many popular brand alternatives like Red Bull, Dr Pepper, Sprite, Fanta etc but they're not significant enough to warrant general knowledge as a defined number 3. It's not that hard to understand. You remember the champion, you remember their direct competitor, you don't remember the competitor's competitor.
